Blackfive’s Someone You Should Know: David Bellavia

By Kevin

Matt from the #1 milblog Blackfive joined us for our weekly collaboration to bring the inspirational, true stories of the men and women that are fighting for us around the world to the radio.

This week we recall the heroics of Staff Sergent David Bellavia, whom Matt described as “badder than John Freaking Wayne”. David has been nominated for the Medal of Honor and has recently returned to Iraq as a founding member of VetsforFreedom.org. This is one amazing story.

Someone You Should Know is also available for download at iTunes. Simply search for Pundit Review Radio Podcast.

My parents and many aunts and uncles come from a little town in Sicily, Sommatino. Among my relatives are many with the family name Bellavia. I am curious as to where David’s parents/grandparents/ etc. came from. I have no doubt that he is of Sicilian descent.
