Someone You Should Know: Navy SEAL’s Lt. Michael Murphy, Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew Axelson and Petty Officer 2nd Class Danny Dietz
When Matt from Blackfive joins us for Someone You Should Know every weekend, he often get his information from small town newspapers and military sources like Stars & Stripes and Army Times. We often criticize the MSM for not telling these stories, so finally, we have an opportunity to say “job well done” to the Washington Post. Tonight Matt told us about three special men, Lt. Michael P. Murphy, Navy SEAL Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew G. Axelson and Petty Officer 2nd Class Danny P. Dietz. The Washington Post told their story earlier this week,
2 SEALs Receive Navy Cross
Pair Died Fighting Taliban in Afghanistan
The perilous firefight erupted at 10,000 feet in some of the world’s most rugged terrain along Afghanistan’s border with Pakistan, when the SEAL team probed deep into enemy territory on a clandestine mission to kill or capture a Taliban militia leader. By nightfall that day, three of the SEALs lay dead, along with eight other SEALs and eight Army Special Operations aviators whose MH-47 Chinook helicopter crashed during a daring rescue attempt.
It was the worst death toll in a single day since the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in October 2001, and the biggest single loss of life for the Naval Special Warfare forces since the invasion of Normandy in World War II, the Navy reported.

SEALs Murphy, Axelson, and Dietz - Someone You Should Know Radio…
This Sunday, on Pundit Review Radio, I talked about a fierce battle in Afghanistan where 11 Navy SEALs and 8 Army soldiers gave their lives. Froggy has discussed the battle here on Blackfive and I heard about it from a…
I am a freshmen in high school and I have been wanting to talk to a Navy SEAL for the longest time now. Becoming a Navy SEAL is my dream I have wanted to be one forever and I keep getting closer and closer to when I will be able to be one. I think about it everyday, and how amazing it would be to be a Navy SEAL. Are you guys really Navy SEALs, if not do you know of one that I would be able to talk to? It would mean alot to me if you would respond.
Thank You

I’m thinking now of two statues of men bearing arms - the Minute Man statues in Concord and Lexington, MA. The one in Concord, “By the rude bridge that arched the flood”, has been an inspiration to me all my life. My mother was a patriotic soul, brought up in Concord and steeped in the traditions of the Revolution. When I was a child, every 19th of April she would take me to Concord to watch a descendent of Col. Prescott ride horseback across that bridge at a gallop, stopping at the Minute Man statue. Now, it’s true that Daniel Chester French’s Minute Man represented a group of men, not a specific person. It’s also true that these heroic men were actually on their own soil, defending their land against an invading army. Nevertheless, it causes me to wonder - if any of these outraged citizens of Littleton, CO happened to visit Concord and Lexington on a tour of historic sites, would they consciously avoid visiting these statues because they didn’t care to expose their children to the horrible sight of figures armed with muskets?

I just finished Marcus’ book. It brought me way back. While not a SEAL, I can tell you that I have been there. These men were true warriors and SEALs in every sense. The book brought tears to my eyes as I witnessed just what they gone through. This should be a film. The American public should know how brave, unflinching, and focused they are on keeping our nation safe. Semper Fi.
