Ted Kennedy’s Problem with the Truth
We all know that Ted Kennedy has many problems.
Finding a bartender that will not overserve him = problem
Counting calories = problem
Monogamy= problem
Not lying his ass off for partisan political purposes = problem
The FACT remains that Ted Kennedy is a unconscionable LIAR.
We, the voters of Massachusetts, get what we deserve. Only 10 months after Mary Jo Kopechne died in his Oldsmobile, Kennedy was re-elected with 70% of the vote. What kind of message does that send?
Well, here we are 35 years later, and Kennedy is still in the Senate, still holding onto power, and still LYING his ass off.
From Byron York on The Corner,
In his opening statement, Sen. Ted Kennedy said, “In an era when America is still too often divided by race and by riches, Judge Alito has not written one single opinion on the merits in favor of a person of color alleging race discrimination on the job. In fifteen years on the bench, not one.”
Moments ago, Republicans released a list of four opinions — Reynolds v. USX Corp., Zubi v. AT&T Corp., Smith v. Davis, and Goosby v. Johnson & Johnson — in which, GOP senators say, Alito ruled for employees claiming racial discrimination
A few minutes later, York provides an update, some clarity if you will, on the Senator’s remarks,
From the liberal think tank Center for American Progress, an e-mail on Ted Kennedy’s statement that “Judge Alito has not written one single opinion on the merits in favor of a person of color alleging race discrimination on the job.” “The operative word here is ‘written,’” the e-mail says. So it appears that the Kennedy argument is not that Alito has not voted in favor of minority rights in cases of persons of color alleging race discrimination on the job — Republicans have cited four cases in which that happened — but that he has not written those opinions.
I know that Judge Alito was sworn in this morning, held his hand on the bible, and swore to tell the “whole truth”. Shouldn’t that standard apply to the people asking the questions?

Your latest question is a damn good one, actually.
In a courtroom, a lawyer is assumed to be an officer of the court and therefore fully cognizant of the sanctions involved in not telling the truth. Such cannot be said for congressmen and senators asking questions (really making statements) at hearings. A swearing-in under penalty of perjury would not be out of line at all, IMO.
Kennedy should have to answer why he has for 35 years voted against virtually every program, poicy, and legislation which has benefited minorities in this country the most. (SS reform which would help balck males the most, school vouchers which have helped blacks and Hispanics more than any group in America, abortion on demand which has killed more black developng babies than any single race, ending the death tax which unfarily penalizes small businesses primarily comprised of first generation minority owned businesses and farms, energy independence/domestic drilling and development which artificially increases cost of gas and home heating oil which disporoportionately harms low income minorities and those on fixed incomes, support for affirmative action/ race based preferences which is nothing more than govt sponsored racisim, etc… The last person to accuse anyone of being “unfriendly” to minorities is Senator “Chevas” Kennedy. Well perhaps the paragon of religious tolerance himself the Senior Senator from West Virginia Bobby “Sheets/KKK Grand Kleagele” Byrd himself may give fat Ted a run for his money. The Dem party has hit an all time low with Kennedy’s showing today.
Gregg J
Geez, nobody told me it was Gregg with two g’s. Time to revise posts.
I was just listening to this particular topic. All Senators have to do the same as Justice Alito did. If we held them to the same standard (why don’t we?), we woulld not have a quarum!
Thanks for the heads-up. Great article.
He’s Your Senator, MA!
I didn’t have an opportunity to watch the opening hearings of Justice Alito, but Kevin of Pundit Review did. Boy, is he ticked. Ya see, he lives in MA! Find out what he had to say. Say hello for me. lol. Have a great day.

Ted Kennedyâ??s speech yesterday was pathetic, of course, and for many of the usual reasons but I think Iâ??m more amazed that (at least judging by yesterday and Pat Leahyâ??s questions this morning) Democrats are leaning so hard on the…
