John Kerry: Stuck on stupid

You’ve got to hand it to John Kerry. It takes a rare candidate to single handedly blow two elections in a row. How DID Karl Rove get him to do this?

Kerry belittled our troops; there is simply no question about it. Oh wait, apparently there is some question. Liberal media critic and all around good guy Dan Kennedy is asking,

Isn’t it obvious that John Kerry was referring to President Bush â?? and not to American troops â?? as “stupid”?

In a word, NO.

Scrambling to defend the indefensible, Kerry not only insults his supporters, but all American’s intelligence,

“I apologize to no one for my criticism of the president and of his broken policy.” …If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they’re crazy.”

Do you feel crazy after watching that? Is he calling â??his good friendâ?ť John McCain crazy?

Kerry “owes an apology to the many thousands of Americans serving in Iraq, who answered their country’s call because they are patriots and not because of any deficiencies in their education.”

Is he calling the National Commander of The American Legion crazy?

“As a constituent of Senator Kerry’s I am disappointed. As leader of The American Legion, I am outraged,” said National Commander Paul A. Morin.

Let’s pretend, for a moment, that we believe Kerry when he says it was simply,

“a botched joke about the president and the president’s people and not about the troops.”

What kind of a moron makes jokes about someone being stupid, when that someone was a better student than he was?

The transcript shows that Kerry’s freshman-year average was 71. He scored a 61 in geology, a 63 and 68 in two history classes, and a 69 in political science. His top score was a 79, in another political science course. Another of his strongest efforts, a 77, came in French class.

Insert your own French joke here. And how about graduate school, surely JFK the Second went to Harvard Law, right? Wrong. He went to Boston College, still a fine school, but no Harvard. George W. Bush, the dummy, went to Harvard Business School.

John Kerry’s not even smart enough to know when to avoid an argument he can’t win,

The simple fact is that John Kerry would not be in such trouble if he did not make his name on the national political stage by trashing our troops. But he did.

He’s finally Swiftboated himself. They’ll still love you here in squalid Massachusetts, but you are toast nationally.

John Kerry was fully complicit in the fraudulent 2004 election, so it is not out of the realm of possibility that this incident could be another orchestrated event a la the Zarkozy provocations and the Fleming Rose cartoon riots. It was not at all an accident that two Skull & Bones elitists ran for the presidency in 2004, and it will not at all be an accident that those in support or at least not fervently against the Iraq war will retain or gain Congressional seats.

John F. Kerry should RESIGN ..HE HAS TOTALLY DISGRACED HIMSELF AND IF THIS IS WHAT HE THINKS IS A “JOKE” HE NEEDS MENTAL THERAPY..

PERHAPS HE COULD BE A SENATOR IN IRAN OR N. KOREA…OR PERHAPS VENEZUELA..

  3. Malott says:

    Great post.

Isn’t it amazing how the Left so energetically rallies in damage control - ignoring Kerry’s rich and proud history of trashing the American soldier.

  4. Sickofspin says:

October surprise! Thank you John Kerry!

  5. DougH says:

Kerry’s dumbest move was in trying to make a joke. He is not a funny person, by any measure.

It’s laughable to see the right-wing mainstream media say he has blown his election, based on an ill-advised joke that went over like a lead balloon.

Was he insulting the troops? Insulting to suggest that, actually.

In his responses to the kerfuffle (my new favorite word), at least the ones that I have heard, he is paring back to the message he meant to say and should have said– Rumsfeld’s incompetent, the war is being prosecuted wrogly, yada-yada– whether you agree with that or not, that’s the message– not some stupid joke.

It is one of the failings of the mainstream media– and new media can and should take the responsibility for raising the bar on conversation– that they jump on the superficiality of how the message is delivered (yes, Kerry needs to polish this aspect, it’s how he allowed to get Swift-boated in the first place), rather than concentrating on analysis of the real debate.

I don’t know who will be the Democratic nominee in 2008, but a bad joke hyped by the MSM 2 years before the election isn’t going to decide it.

Kerry and Cheney seem to have a lot in common. Apparently Kerry misspoke here, and Cheney misspoke and insulted millions of veterans when he said nothing good ever came from a draft.

“Itâ??s laughable to see the right-wing mainstream media say he has blown his election, based on an ill-advised joke that went over like a lead balloon.”

Yep everybody knows ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC,PBS, the NY Times, Wash Post, Chicago Tribune, LA Times, and NPR are “rightwing.” That darn “rightwing MSM” They screw over the Demos chances every time. It’s all their fault.

Then Doug H says: “It is one of the failings of the mainstream mediaâ?? and new media can and should take the responsibility for raising the bar on conversationâ?? that they jump on the superficiality of how the message is delivered (yes, Kerry needs to polish this aspect, itâ??s how he allowed to get Swift-boated in the first place), rather than concentrating on analysis of the real debate.”

Yup it’s all the media’s fault that Kerry said “better get good grades or your will end up in the militray in Iraq.” It’s never actually Kerry’s fault. Typical liberal always playing the victim.

Kerry didn’t “misspeak” Optimist. He said exactly what he was thinking. So, no Kerry didn’t “misspeak.” He just revealed once again how much disdain he has for the US military- plain and simple. No need to “apologize” for telling the truth.

I was attempting to use “sarcasm” to make a “point” about how Kerry “said” what he meant, just like “Rumsfeld” said what he “meant.” (I meant to say Rumsfeld above.)

Both sides are “chock” full of “people” who insult the “military” and have no respect for the “accomplishments” of the “military.” (it is fun using quotes around random words for no apparent reason.)

Kerry should be condemned for saying a very stupid thing. So Gregg, I am in violent agreement here with you. I believe Kerry is an elitist snob, but still gets my respect for being a combat veteran (but I sure as heck ain’t voting for him or want to have a beer with him. Ever.)

And Rumsfled should have been condemned for the idiotic statement he made about nothing good coming from the draft.

My point (apparently poorly made) was that both sides should not be pointing fingers and saying “see, that bad group of people over on the right/left hate our soldiers.”

I just don’t understand this complete overwhelming need to totally hate one side, and think the other side is always right. The MSM are evil, liberals are lying, conservatives are rich and uncaring, etc etc etc. This incredible hatred both your side and doug’s side have against each other boggles my mind. And the hypocricy and selective memory both sides have is shown very well in this whole episode.

  9. DougH says:

I simply find it cynical (though not surprising) that people would jump on this statement as Kerry intentionally insulting the troops, rather than Bush/Rumsfeld et al as intended. Ironically, it is the MSM (and by “right wing” I mean no more right wing than left wing– in reference to a recent “debate” on Dan Kennedy’s blog, not to mention what the MSM did to Gore in 1999-200 just for fun), and unfortunately others, that are actually insulting our intelligence by running with that misinterpretation of the story (so yes it’s the media’s fault).

Don’t get me wrong — Kerry should apologize for even leaving the impression that he meant the troops– and I stand by my first statement about Kerry and humor, and add that any political adviser that lets him even think about telling a joke should be fired immediately.

Optimist: “My side?” I’m a registered independent! So I don’t know what you mean… :)

  10. Administrator says:

Doug you say: “Kerry should apologize for even leaving the impression that he meant the troops”

No it’s obvious what he meant. He was clearly referring to the military. He was speaking the truth. So why “apologize” for clearly articulating what you think? Regardless, it only reminds Americans what they have always suspected which is that Dems have open disdain for the military and don’t really support the troops as they often assert. Kerry is truly the “gift that keeps on giving.”

    Gregg

  11. DougH says:

No– he wasn’t clearly referring to the military– he was clearly (well, ineptly) referring to the administration. Actually, there was nothing clear about how he tried to pull off that joke, which is why it bombed.

Do you honestly think that a Senate Democratic leader would go on the campaign trail by bashing the troops? Sorry, but that is mind-numbing logic.
