Why Fred Thompson?

By Kevin

This morning Michael Moore challenged Fred Thompson to a debate on healthcare. Two hours later, Thompson responded.

Bob Krumm has it exactly right,

I don’t know what’s the best part of this video response to Michael Moore’s publicity stunt: the cigar, the appropriate disdain, the lecture, the humor, or the quickness of the response, but what I do know is that Fred Thompson is the first politician anywhere to understand how the speed of the internet can change politics.

According to Jim Geherty’s source in the Thompson camp,

“He turned it around in under two hours, and he did it off the top of his head essentially in one take.”

Taking on Michael Moore doesn’t mean you get my vote for president. Being a strong, forceful, fearless defender of what you believe in does. After eight years of Dubya, an effective, forceful communicator is what I’m looking for.

Why don’t you discuss the depth of George Bush’s lies?
Has he told a SINGLE truth about Iraq since its beginning? Is he a liar or simply incompetent? There’s no other choice, is there?
Why not honestly discuss how the nation has finally seen through the crap, and now how the Republican party is now SCRAMBLING away from their “hero” president, lest they join him in the sinkhole of 17% approval ratings.
Why not discuss the GOP’s frantic search for an old rich white guy who people will accept, rather than the 9 Dwarfs currently running?
A woman or a black. One of them is gonna be president.
Might as well face it boys, the Good Ole Boy days are gone, and you’re no longer alone at the head of the table.

Hang in there Tucker, one day your Democrat Congress may yet have approval ratings greater than Bush. If Bush is such a lying sack of you know what, what does that make the Dems, who are even less popular?

You have a strong point there, but he still backed John McCain with that HORRIBLE Incumbancy-Protection Bill–otherwise known as campaign finance reform. My suggestion to cleaning up the money, if that is what they really wanted to do, would be to stop politicians from campaigning until 60 days before the vote! Also, they cannot accept any money until then! THEN let him see how HE likes it! ;)

I’d like to hear some more ’straight talk’ - something along the lines of Ross Perot and the bulley pulpet. We need to know what you have in mind before we can get behind you. So far you look like the best chance to keep Hillary out.
