I first told you about Project Healing Waters in May 2007 when I had the honor of visiting Walter Reed hospital and talking with many recovering soldiers. One of the men I met was Captain Eivind Forseth of the 82nd Airborne. Captain Forseth was in the occupational therapy area at where he was teaching some soldiers fly-tying. As an avid fisherman, Eivind understood the mental and physical benefits of fly-tying and fishing. I asked him what his plans were when he left the hospital and he told me that he was going to work for an organization called Project Healing Waters which “salutes all of our brave armed forces, and strives to serve those who have come home wounded and aid in their physical and emotional recovery by introducing or rebuilding the skills of fly fishing and fly tying.” Here is my interview with Captain Forseth,

ESPN’s excellent Outside the Lines has done a segment on Project Healing Waters that is currently airing on SportsCenter. It is an incredibly moving piece.
