Did you catch any of George “Stephy” Stephanopolous’ hard hitting interview with his former boss Bill Clinton this weekend? It was classic Clinton, and that’s no compliment. You don’t want to miss his laughable self-assessment of his presidency. The ego on this guy is just incredible.
At one point Stephy asked him to rate the GOP field of candidates, because we all know that Clinton has their best interests at heart. Clinton’s choice for the upset, fellow former Gov. of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee. And why is that?
Because he’s the best speaker the GOP has, he and Clinton grew up in an oral culture. Yep, that’s what he said, an oral culture.
This is almost certainly headed to Hall of Fame for Least Self-Aware move of all-time. It’s right up there with Ted Kennedy naming his dog Splash.

10 Questions for all the “Islam is a Religion of Peace” Multi-Culti Crowd
GrassTopsUSA Guest Commentary
By Gregg Jackson
09-25-071. “Islam and Christianity are equally violent and intolerant religions.” The purportedly “moderate” Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani has claimed that gay men and lesbians should be killed in the most extreme fashion possible — a belief that is mainstream in the Koran and practiced by Muslims around the world. Can you name any renowned Christian leaders or organizations that are either advocating the killing of gays and any that are actually using the Bible to justify doing so?
2. “Muslims and Christians both have their share of extremists like Timothy McVeigh — the Oklahoma Bomber — for example.” Certainly you know that McVeigh wasn’t a Christian but an agnostic at the time of the Oklahoma City bombing, correct — declaring to friends that “science” was his religion?
rest of the 10 questions here.

For more on the Mets collapse, here’s the Post’s treatment
October 1, 2007 — The fall turned out to be extraordinary, the collapse astonishing. The Mets’ season is over, an ultimately dreadful meltdown that finished mercifully yesterday at Shea.
It’s never been more appropriate for a team to play in a city called Flushing.
One of our favorite guests, retired Lt. Col. Ralph Peters joined us last night for a talk about Iraq. Ralph was just there and talked about the disconnect between what he saw on the ground and the what he is seeing take place in Washington DC.
As usual, Ralph pulled no punches. He compared MoveOn.org not to a post-modern grass roots political group, but to a Soviet-style totalitarian organization that seeks to silence its critics. Ralph said he cut his teeth as an old Soviet hand, and says he has seen this movie before. Speaking of movies, Ralph talked about the rash of anti-=military movies, the fallacy of “I support the troops but not the mission” and so much more. Ralph saved his best for the modern day Democratic Party, which he said was led by Hillary Clinton, “the last man standing in the Democrat Party.” Finally, his comments about John Murtha were PRICELESS!

Bruce McQuain from QandO joined us for another edition of Someone You Should Know, the untold, inspirations true stories of the men and women fighting for us around the world. The Someone You Should Know radio collaboration began as an extension of Matt Burden’s series at Blackfive. Thanks to Matt, Bruce is now on board and we are lucky to have him as part of the show.
From Bruce’s introduction tonight,
Tonight I want to tell you about three Marines, all of whom were involved in the battle of Al Tarmiya in April of 2003 in the initial stages of Operation Iraqi Freedom. All are members of G Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. In the case of all three, they had either responded to or were a member of a Marine platoon which had been ambushed and pinned down by insurgent fire.
Between the three they received one Navy Cross and two Silver Stars.
This is the story of Corporal Marco Martinez, Cpl. Timothy C. Tardif and SSgt Adam Sikes.

From Bruce’s Project Hero tribute at QandO,
Soldiers in transportation units aren’t supposed to be trigger-pullers. Soldiers in transportation units are supposed to drive trucks. But the war in Iraq has changed that dynamic, and it has placed units that normally operate behind friendly lines in the forefront of the conflict. PFC Jeremy Church’s story of heroism underlines that and demonstrates there’s nothing soft about our combat service support soldiers in Iraq.

Murtha Must Testify in Defamation Case
WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge refused Friday to dismiss a defamation case against Rep. John P. Murtha and ordered the Pennsylvania Democrat to give a sworn deposition about his comments alleging “cold-blooded murder and war crimes” by unnamed soldiers in connection with Iraqi civilian deaths.
A Marine Corps sergeant is suing the 18-term congressman for making the charge, which the soldier claims is false. Murtha, who opposes the Iraq war, made the comment during a May, 2006 Capitol Hill news conference in which he predicted that a Pentagon war crimes investigation will show Marines killed dozens of innocent Iraqi civilians in Haditha in 2005.
Murtha’s office declined to comment on the ruling.
Gary Gross, on Let Freedom Ring Blog, has done an incredible job following the developments in the Haditha case. He takes a look at Murtha’s forced testimony and how it relates, or not, to the Constitution’s Speech and Debate Clause.
