Michael Yon on the LA Times Treachery
On the 3rd anniversary of the start of the Iraq War, we welcomed back independent citizen journalist Michael Yon.
As most of you know by now, Michael is a former Green Beret who embedded himself on the front lines with the troops for most of 2005. His reporting from the front has been compared to the great Ernie Pyle.
We focused this discussion on a recent LA Times article, mentioned last week by President Bush, that gave away how we are dealing with the threat of improvised explosive devices. Thanks to the LA Times, the terrorists now have the information they need to combat our new technology designed to keep our troops safe.
It’s one thing to not support the war, it is another entirely to give the enemy the means to more easily kill our soldiers.
The interview is also available as a Podcast at iTunes and Podcast Alley.

I have the proper response to the LA Times’ treason. Pull every American troop out of Iraq. That way, none of them will be faced with IED attacks. Sadly, however, this scenario seems like an impossibility given that we have the country’s worst ever President making decisions.
John,
Brilliant solution. Very strategic and insightful response.
Kevin
What a bunch of Fifth Column traitors. There is a reason I read the OC Register instead of the LAT when I lived in SoCal. I have know about these countermeasures for some time but you don’t hear me blogging about it. Then again, I don’t sell my soul or our nation’s blood for .50 cents a copy either.
Thank you, Kevin. Sometimes the best solutions are the most simple ones. Not to worry though. While it appears that our illegal intervention in Iraq is interminable at the moment, the war’s end along with the public crumbling of the Bush administration will come sooner than ever envisioned. Hold out hope. The Bush Doctrine of perpetual war for perpetual peace will not persist.
John,
You sure have an outstanding grasp of the moonbat talking points. You have a career as a bumper sticker writer. Those pesky facts keep getting in your way however. Illegal war, I mean come on, please stop with that nonsense.
Kevin
Sarcasm eludes this fellow, methinks Kevin…
Of course I understand that Kevin was being sarcastic, Canelone. My response is to always answer a fellow writer in as positive a fashion as possible. My next point - the raging conservative/liberal debate in this country is by pure design. This is meant to keep the masses from rising up and demanding an end to the one party system that engulfs us. Consider today’s political reality as nothing more than a theatre act with the politicians in DC as the lead actors. This will become clearer in due course.
John,
Now that is something I agree with, it is in the end a one party system.
Kevin
“This is meant to keep the masses from rising up”
I instinctively recoil from anyone who refers to his fellow citizens as ‘the masses’. Its like a old manifest: ‘one hundred slaves, more or less’. No real people, no sovereign individuals, just an undifferentiated blob of subjects to be acted upon. Give people some credit. They’re smarter than you think.
