1. Iraq Islamic Party declares “Al Qaeda in Iraq is defeated”

Somebody better tell Harry Reid!

Courtesy of the incredible Michael Yon,

“Al Qaeda in Iraq is defeated,” according to Sheik Omar Jabouri, spokesman for the Iraqi Islamic Party and a member of the widespread and influential Jabouri Tribe. Speaking through an interpreter at a 31 October meeting at the Iraqi Islamic Party headquarters in downtown Baghdad, Sheik Omar said that al Qaeda had been “defeated mentally, and therefore is defeated physically,” referring to how clear it has become that the terrorist group’s tactics have backfired. Operatives who could once disappear back into the crowd after committing an increasingly atrocious attack no longer find safe haven among the Iraqis who live in the southern part of Baghdad. They are being hunted down and killed. Or, if they are lucky, captured by Americans.

Colonel Ricky Gibbs, the American brigade commander with responsibility for the Rashid District in south Baghdad today told me, “So goes South Baghdad goes Baghdad.” General Petraeus had told me similar things about the importance of South Baghdad. In fact, Rashid is quickly developing into what might be one of the final serious battlegrounds of the war.

2. US Casualty Rate at Two Year Low

Remember how everyone feared that The Surge would lead to a dramatic rise in US casualties. Well, the opposite has happened.

Gateway Pundit has a terrific, comprehensive post that I highly recommend.

Anyone heard a peep about this in the MSM? Me neither.

3. Time Magazine’s Insurgent Talking Points

time+baquba

We talk all the time about how the MSM covers stories that fit their agenda or narrative. Well, twenty headless bodies being discovered certainly fits for Time,

The horrible discovery in Diyala province Monday was disturbing even by the standards of Iraq’s running sectarian violence. Iraqi police said they found 20 decapitated bodies dumped near a police station west of Baquba, the capital of Diyala province. That same day a suicide bomber on a bicycle careened into a Baquba police station, killing 29.

Fit so well that apparently Time didn’t bother to check to see if it was true. Unfortunately for Time Magazine’s reputation, Jim at Gateway Pundit did check. He did the job that Time was supposed to do, you know, actually check stuff out before publishing.

From Gateway Pundit,

Major Danielson told me that they had not received any word from Iraqi authorities that this event took place. (This is two days after the bodies were supposedly discovered.) Major Danielson also explained that if there was a record of this event that MNF-I would have seen the report. They have not seen any follow up report on this incident.
There is no evidence of this event.
There is no official report on this event.
There are no photos of this event.

The BBC has retracted their report. Time Magazine has not.

Check out the whole post that Jim has put together. It is devastating to Time’s reputation.

Just another day in the blogosphere, busting the MSM for publishing insurgent lies and propaganda and highlighting stories they don’t want you to know about.
