Here is The Anchoress last week,
What I dread most in this political season is the “genuine†moment – and it is coming, soon, sometime between today and tomorrow, or tomorrow and New Hampshire – when Mrs. Clinton, in her ongoing effort to turn herself into whatever the polls says she must be, cries in public. It’s going to be genuinely ghastly.
…and on cue, here’s Senator Clinton tearing up today in New Hampshire.
Does anyone buy this BS that she is selling, that this candidacy isn’t about her ambition, but rather her deep concern for the future of our country?
Hat Tip: Jonah Goldberg at The Corner
We welcomed back Victor Davis Hanson tonight to discuss the election and a few of his recent articles about McCain, Hillary and a whole lot more.

Tonight we spoke with Dick Moody, a retired Air Force Lt. Col., Vietnam veteran, father of two children who have served in Iraq and the founder, along with his wife Christine, of Operation Troop Support,
Danvers group mails 22,000 packages to soldiers
DANVERS – To Dick and Christine Moody and thousands of troops stationed overseas in places like Besmaya, Numaniyah and Kirkush, the number 22,112 held a special meaning this holiday season.
That’s the number of gift-wrapped presents the Moodys’ grassroots group, Operation Troop Support, managed to land in the laps of thousands of soldiers serving in 13 countries this holiday season.
“Your packages made Christmas somewhat like Christmas in this far away land, and we all appreciate it greatly,” Army Sgt. Justin Ellenton, a Danvers patrolman who is serving in Baghdad, wrote in an e-mail.
“We’ve been told this is the largest grass-roots mailing (for the troops) in the country,” Moody said.
This is a fraction of what Operation Troop Support does. Perhaps the most important thing they do are family support groups. What a great organization. You can reach them by email at operationtroopsupport@gmail.com.

Prose from the pros
PMI-001 professionals usually suggest 640-816 before 642-444. unlike the popular concept of doing 156-315.
Bruce McQuain from QandO joined us for another edition of Someone You Should Know. The Someone You Should Know radio collaboration began as an extension of Matt Burden’s series at Blackfive. Thanks to Matt, Bruce is now on board and we are lucky to have him as part of the show.
Bruce was awesome tonight, telling us about Sgt. Eddie Jeffers and his essay Hope Rides Alone
Right now, the burden is all on the American soldiers. Right now, hope rides alone. But it can change, it must change. Because there is only failure and darkness ahead for us as a country, as a people, if it doesn’t.
Let’s stop all the political nonsense, let’s stop all the bickering, let’s stop all the bad news and let’s stand and fight!
Isn’t that what America is about anyway?
Tonight’s Someone You Should Know was personal for Gregg, he is friends with Eddie’s father David. David also has a blog , Salt and Light.

The most under appreciated story emerging this week is that states with 90+% white voters have lifted Barack Obama to front runner status on the basis of his personality, campaign and message. In short, on the merits and nothing else. He’s not the front runner because he’s black. His race seems to be a complete irrelevency. This is a great thing for the country. That’s not to say that race isn’t an issue, but it does say something great about where we are.
There are people alive today who couldn’t eat or be educated in integrated communities. Now, one of their own is front runner to become president, largely because two of the more lilly white states in the Union have lifted his campaign to a new level.
Obama deserves as much credit as anyone for making race an irrelevant issue in this campaign. And the country as a whole should be grateful to him for FINALLY moving to the sidelines those so-called leaders whose every move was calculated around keeping race an issue. In addition to burying the Clinton’s, Obama is also taking out Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. What a great trifecta for America.
As for Hillary, she’s toast, as this clip demonstrates. She is behind and will have to attack, which will only turn off more people. Let me be clear, this is as much a repudiation of her husband as it is of Hillary. Bill has hurt her campaign and hurt it badly. At a visceral level, I don’t think people want this duo back as residents at the White House. It is Obama’s race to lose.
UPDATE: Today’s Herald nails it: “She’s so yesterday”. Howie piles on too: “Dems over the Hill“
From the blog Obsidian Wings,
Andrew Olmsted, who also posted here as G’Kar, was killed yesterday in Iraq. Andy gave me a post to publish in the event of his death; the last revisions to it were made in July.
Andy was a wonderful person: decent, honorable, generous, principled, courageous, sweet, and very funny. The world has a horrible hole in it that nothing can fill. I’m glad Andy — generous as always — wrote something for me to publish now, since I have no words at all. Beyond: Andy, I will miss you.
Do yourself a favor and read Andrew Olmsted’s final post, it is deeply moving.
Newsbusters shows the surest way to get a letter published in the prestigious New York Times, claim to be a “lifelong Republican” and then proceed to criticize Republicans.
Henry A. Lowenstein, who has managed to get 20 different letters published in the New York Times since 2003, a remarkable feat when you consider that the Times (by its own admission) receives around 1,000 letters a day and prints only 15 on its letters page.
Click here to read the full post, which includes excerpts from some of this “lifelong Republican’s” letters.
Not surprisingly, the “lifelong Republican” meme works with most MSM outlets.
