I have always said that regardless of what issues liberals may be stronger than conservatives on (can’t think of any now, but I’m sure one will come to me) you can’t support them because they can’t be trusted with our national security. They used to have a few patriotic hawks like Joe Lieberman who could recognize pure evil when he saw it and advocated peace thru strength. But no room for Joe anymore as the McGovernite wing of the party has now taken it over.

There is no better illustration of the dangerous mindset of the modern day uselful idiot liberal than moneybags Ted Turner’s speech at the National Press Club Today.

There are a lot of things about this war that disturb me, one of them isâ?¦the attitudeâ?¦ that was well expressed by our president [when he said] â??youâ??re either with us or youâ??re against us.â? And I had a problem with that because I really hadnâ??t made my mind up yet. You know, what if you hadnâ??t made your mind up yet? You know, what if youâ??re thinking about it, doing some studying, doing some reading?â?

Jessica deGraffenreid of Family Security Matters had this to say:

I have to say, there are a lot of things about this war that disturb me too: the IEDs that kill our soldiers, the Cindy Sheehans who go down to Cocaine-land and flirt with Chavez, and American media personalities who go on television claiming they donâ??t know which side of the war they want to be on.

Hadnâ??t made up his mind yet? My mind was made up, oh, about the time the second plane hit the World Trade Center. What exactly is he waiting for?

One wonders, with all this thinking, studying, and reading heâ??s doing, has he noticed that a totalitarian dictator is out of power? That terrorists are being forced to work on the run? That weâ??re stopping attacks on our homeland? Good grief, Ted, what is it that you think we are doing?

Turner then incredulously uttered these words:

I just really wonder, during the last war, what business did â?¦ the news desks [have] to have the American flag flying in the background? I mean, it was like the news media covered the Iraq war, at least at the beginning of it, like it was a football game â?? us vs. themâ?¦Certainly it was inappropriate for CNN to do it that way.

In Ted’s world the “objective” U.S. press (like CNN) shouldn’t show any sort of partiality. That would not be tolerant of the Taliban and Al Qaeada and other terrorist organizations who chop off people’s heads. It would probably be a violation of the Geneva Conventions and may make them feel “uncomfortable.” On second thought, perhaps Ted has a point. Perhaps if American newsmen hadn’t worn those dam American flag pins so much the terrorists wouldn’t have hated us so much. And we would probably be at peace with the savages by now.

Bottom line is that Ted’s little “speech” today should be a reminder to Americans that when they go to vote in a few weeks they should think long and hard about sitting this one out or voting for “change.”

Yes the GOP has had thier issues (spending and immigration being the two most prominent) that we have consistently chroincled on this blog, but to allow liberals with the Ted Turner globalist/anti-American view of the world control Congress would put our nation at greater risk. And at least Ted had the guts to be honest about his anti-American views. But Senator “global test” Kerry, Howard “unwinable war” Dean, and the rest of the Defeaticrats hold the same views that Commie loving Ted Turner has. Don’t kid yourselves.

Mr. Turner, for the brave men and women who daily protect and defend our nation from the Jihadist throat cutting savages who seek to impose Islam on the world it’s much more than a “football game.” It is whether we will defend Western Civilization from extinction.

This is great, our two favorite and most frequent guests on Pundit Review Radio, discussing Blackfive’s incredible, must-read new book Blog of War: Frontline dispatches from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Michael Yon: Where do you find inspiration?

Blackfive: I am such a fan of our armed forces because Iâ??ve served and I KNOW how great these young men and women (AND their families) are to serve their country for little financial reward.

And soon after I started blogging, I discovered how great my readers are. They donate money, time, write letters, counter anti-military protests, donate blood (and get registered in the National Bone Marrow database) and visit the wounded to let them know we care. Seriously, they are the best people on the planet. It wasnâ??t long before they were inspiring ME.

Last, I am inspired by people that go above and beyond in support of our troops. Thereâ??s a whole group that support our wounded. Via Soldiersâ?? Angels, thereâ??s even American expats and German citizens in Germany that help care for our men and women while they are there in transit to the States.

Occassionally, the New York Times surprises to the upside. Today they delivered a refreshingly candid account of You Tube censorship…

A Slippery Slope of Censorship at YouTube
By TOM ZELLER Jr.

LAST week, as YouTube continued its recent campaign to spit-shine its image and, perhaps, to look a little less ragtag to potential buyers (including Google, which was said to be eyeing the upstart in the $1.6 billion range), the company took a scrub bucket to some questionable political graffiti on its servers, including a video entry from the doyenne of right-wing blogs, Michelle Malkin (michellemalkin.com).

YouTube users can flag any video as containing pornography, mature content or graphic violence, depicting illegal acts or being racially or ethnically offensive. A video is removed â?? as Ms. Malkinâ??s was on Sept. 28 â?? only if a review by the companyâ??s customer support department agrees that it is inappropriate, or that the video is on its face in violation of the siteâ??s terms of use.

But the incident raised some questions about the fine line YouTubeâ??s administrators walk when they decide to respond to usersâ?? complaints about contributions to the site â?? a mechanism that is fraught with the potential for vindictive shenanigans.

Now that Google has bought You Tube, it looks like we can expect more of the same going forward.

You thought Chris Wallace made him angry?

Matt from Blackfive joined us once again for Someone You Should Know, our weekly collaboration to bring the inspirational, true stories of the men and women fighting for us around the world to the radio. This week, Matt focused on SGT 1st Class Paul Ray Smith, the only soldier to win the Congressional Medal of Honor in the war in Iraq so far,

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty:

Sergeant First Class Paul R. Smith distinguished himself by acts of gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty in action with an armed enemy near Baghdad International Airport, Baghdad, Iraq on 4 April 2003. On that day, Sergeant First Class Smith was engaged in the construction of a prisoner of war holding area when his Task Force was violently attacked by a company-sized enemy force. Realizing the vulnerability of over 100 fellow soldiers, Sergeant First Class Smith quickly organized a hasty defense consisting of two platoons of soldiers, one Bradley Fighting Vehicle and three armored personnel carriers. As the fight developed, Sergeant First Class Smith braved hostile enemy fire to personally engage the enemy with hand grenades and anti-tank weapons, and organized the evacuation of three wounded soldiers from an armored personnel carrier struck by a rocket propelled grenade and a 60mm mortar round. Fearing the enemy would overrun their defenses, Sergeant First Class Smith moved under withering enemy fire to man a .50 caliber machine gun mounted on a damaged armored personnel carrier. In total disregard for his own life, he maintained his exposed position in order to engage the attacking enemy force. During this action, he was mortally wounded. His courageous actions helped defeat the enemy attack, and resulted in as many as 50 enemy soldiers killed, while allowing the safe withdrawal of numerous wounded soldiers. Sergeant First Class Smith??s extraordinary heroism and uncommon valor are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the Third Infantry Division ??Rock of the Marne,? and the United States Army.

Matt mentioned that the Army has a tremendous tribute to Paul Ray Smith online, featuring a recreation of the attack in which he sacrificed everything. You can find it here.

For those of us who believe in the preservation of traditional (male-female) marriage, there is good news from the left coast. The California Court of Appeals rejected same-sex marriage in a 2 to 1 decision this past Friday October 6, 2006. That is good news for the voters in California who passed prop 22 in 2000 which defined marriage as being between one man and one woman. This ruling represents a victory of rule of law and traditional marriage.

The majority’s opinion stated that the same-sex couples in these appeals were asking the Court of Appeals to “recognize a new right,” but that courts simply do not have the authority to create new rights, “especially when doing so involves changing the definition of so fundamental an institution” as marriage. “In the final analysis,” the judges stated, “the court is not in the business of defining marriage.”
The majority opinion also declared that the lower trial court’s decision “essentially redefined marriage to encompass unions that have never before been considered as such in this state.” The appellate court’s decision went on to state that it is “beyond the judiciary’s realm of authority to redefine a statute or to confer a new right where none previously existed.”
