This just in. Terror Surveillance Works. (Just like Supply Side Tax Cuts) Liberals like to call it “Domestic Spying” to scare people and make them think Bush wakes up in the morning and listens in to people’s telephone conversations for kicks. But the truth is that as Mark Noonan of GOP Bloggers says correctly:
What those on the left call “domestic spying” is actually just signals intelligence – it is the process whereby we listen in on enemy communications in order to determine their future plans. Some of the enemy are inside the United States, so we have to listen in on some communications in to or originating from the United States. The fact that this common-sense program has caused rage on the left is all we really need to know about the left: they are completely unreasonable about the war.
From GOP Bloggers
“During the investigation an unprecedented level of surveillance has been undertaken and that surveillance has had as its objective to gather intelligence and evidence in support of the investigation,” he said.
“We have been looking at meetings, movements, travel, spending and the aspirations of a large group of people. This has involved close co-operation not only between agencies and police forces in the UK but also internationally.
Mark Noonan points out correctly that this isn’t the first time that such surveillane programs which liberals have almost unanimously opposed have been successful thwarting terrorist attacks.
And liberals wonder why Americans don’t trust them with national security?
Pundit Review Radio
Sunday evening, 7-10pm EST
Streaming Live on Boston’s Talk Station WRKO
We have a full show for you this Sunday evening. On Pundit Review we bring the best of the blogs to the radio, the subject matter experts that you won’t hear in the MSM. Well, we are doing that in spades this weekend. Here is the line-up for Sunday night.
7pm EST
We will examine the issue that both President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore believe is more important than terrorism. That’s right, we are talking global warming.
“Climate change is more remote than terror but a more profound threat to the future of the children and the grandchildren and the great-grandchildren I hope all of you have.” Clinton explained: “It’s the only thing we face today that has the power to remove the preconditions of civilized society.”
It is our great honor to announce that Mr. Richard Lindzen, the Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Atmospheric Science at MIT, and a leading critic of the hysteria over global wariming, will be our guest. Talk about subject matter experts!
8pm EST
Staying true to the mission of bringing new media, subject matter experts to the radio, it is our pleasure to welcome back Janet Levy, Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Jihad Watch Project. Given the events of this week, I cannot think of a more appropriate guest.
9pm EST
We have a special double feature of Someone You Should Know this week. Of course, Matt from the #1 milblog Blackfive will join us for our weekly collaboration to bring the untold stories of the heroics and bravery of the men and women fighting for us around the world.
We will also be speaking with a remarkable young man, Dylan DeSilva.Cape Cod Cares for Our Troops is a non-profit organization started by 12 year old Dylan. He wanted to find a way to honor our soldiers for their service, dedication and sacrifices to our country. With the help of his family and friends he sends care packages to our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan on a weekly basis.
9:20pm
The one and only Michael Yon will join us to talk about the deterioting situation in Iraq, especially in Baghdad. Michael has been on our show about a dozen times to talk about Iraq. What makes his work so great, so valuable, is that he is agenda free. He gives you the good, the bad and the ugly. Right now, it’s looking pretty ugly. Here’s Michael’s most recent post,
Precarious Road
Despite incredible progress in Iraq, we are now in great peril of losing the war entirely. At the current rate, we will witness genocide as a nation rips itself apart along sectarian seams.

Pundit Review’s friend and subject matter expert with regard to domestic and international terrorism Janet Levy of Jihadwatch has an outstanding piece in the “American Thinker” entitled “Anti-Semitism in the Guise of Political Protest” in which she clearly illustrates what anti-Semitism is.
Since Israel began its defensive war against the terrorist organization Hezbâ??allah, attacks have increased against Jews in the United States, Europe and Australia. Recently, a Muslim man entered the Jewish Federation of Seattle, proclaimed his anger over Israelâ??s war against Hezbâ??allah and shot six women. Three days later, 20 shops in Rome were vandalized and painted with swastikas, in a manner dangerously reminiscent of Kristalnacht, when hundreds of Jewish businesses were destroyed throughout Nazi Germany. Meanwhile, synagogues in Sydney and Miami have been targeted, Hebrew University of Baltimore was firebombed and a Holocaust memorial in Brussels was desecrated, including a crypt containing the ashes of Auschwitz concentration camp victims.
Yet, these increasing acts of violence worldwide have failed to generate even a fraction of the media attention given to the drunken ramblings of one Hollywood actor. Instead, these obvious anti-Semitic acts of terror, violence and vandalism seem to be accepted as legitimate expressions of political protest, unworthy of the horrified reaction they deserve. The rationale is that violence against Jews worldwide is committed to â??protestâ? the actions of Israel. Yet no one asks, why are Jews everywhere answerable for every single action of Israel?

We look forward to speaking with Janet in depth about this and this week’s foiled Terrorist attacks on the program this Sunday evening.
Liberal Democrat Senators Reid and Kennedy attempted to spin yesterday’s foiled terrorist plot emenating from London which many believe would have culminated in a terrorist attack which would have dwarfed 9-11.
Kennedy had this to say:
it is clear that our misguided policies are making America more hated in the world and making the war on terrorism harder to win.”
“Dingy Harry” added:
“The Iraq war has diverted our focus and more than $300 billion in resources from the war on terrorism and has created a rallying cry for international terrorists.”
Wow. How novel. Will they ever get it? A major terrorist plot is thwarted by our number #1 ally Great Britain, and all the “hurry-up-and-lose” lib Dems have to say is that it reveals that Muslims hate us? and that if we had not removed Saddam and liberated the Iraqi people from his oppressive dictatorial regime that the terrorists would not have planned this attack and others around the world? If this were true how does one explain the multitude of terrorist attacks on US interests prior to 9-11 and Iraqi Freedom?
What yesterday’s thwarted terror attack proved Senators is that the very conter-terrorist programs that Dems have tenatiously opposed and exposed to our enemies are the very programs that are enabling us to avert future 9-11’s.
In short, Democrats who claim to want “focus” on the war on terror have wanted it fought without the intelligence, interrogation and detention tools necessary to win it. And if they cite “cooperation” with our allies as some kind of magical answer, they should be reminded that the British and other European legal systems generally permit far more intrusive surveillance and detention policies than the Bush Administration has ever contemplated. Does anyone think that when the British interrogate those 20 or so suspects this week that they will recoil at harsh or stressful questioning?
The real lesson of yesterday’s anti-terror success is Britain is:
that the threat remains potent, and that the U.S. government needs to be using every legal tool to defeat it. At home, that includes intelligence and surveillance and data-mining, and abroad it means all of those as well as an aggressive military plan to disrupt and kill terrorists where they live so they are constantly on defense rather than plotting to blow up U.S.-bound airliners.

Just wondering in light of this week’s news, with those 11 students going missing and today’s airline plot?
Didn’t think so.
Michael Barone, senior writer at U.S. News & World Report, has written a brilliant piece in today’s Wall St. Journal entitled “Primary Colors” in which he explains how the Connecticut Democrat Primary yesterday revealed a major change inside the Democrat party:
The Connecticut primary reveals that the center of gravity in the Democratic Party has moved, from the lunch-bucket working class that was the dominant constituency up through the 1960s to the secular transnational professional class that was the dominant constituency in the 2004 presidential cycle. You can see the results on the map. Joe Lieberman carried by and large the same cities and towns that John F. Kennedy carried in the 1960 presidential general election.
Indeed the modern day Democrat Party of Sorros-Dean-Moveon-Lamont have replaced the Democrat party who-once upon a time-believed in American exceptionalism ( “Scoop” Jackson, Sam Nunn, Zell Miller, and Joe Lieberman).
In the mid-20th century the core constituencies of both the Democratic and the Republican Parties stood foursquare for America’s prosecution of World War II and the Cold War. Today, as the Connecticut results suggest, it’s different. The core constituency of the Republican Party stands foursquare for America’s prosecution of the global struggle against Islamofascist terrorism — and solidly on the side of Israel in its struggle against the same forces. The core constituency of the Democratic Party wants to stand aside from the global struggle — and, as the presence of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton at Mr. Lamont’s side on election night suggests, is not necessarily on the side of Israel. It’s not your father’s Democratic Party.
Our friend Matt from Blackfive sent this along today,
Scott Kesterson is a videographer and photographer from Oregon who is embedded with Canadian “Red Devils” who are in combat operations daily in Afghanistan. His site is hosted at a Oregon TV station blog and his videos are available via online media player, but THEY ARE AWESOME. I’ve traded a few emails back and forth with Scott asking if he needed anything. I don’t know him personally.
Bottomline: I think his work should be seen by a wider audience.
Coming from Matt, that’s good enough for me, so I checked out the site and the videos and he is 100% correct. This is great work.
Check out the blog here. To watch some amazing combat videos click here, and here .
