Well, this could have easily happened in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts too I guess.
But today in the Capital rotunda in Sacramento California a group of students from a youth leadership conference were rebuked by state troopers for singing the “Star-Spangled Banner” and “God Bless America.”
Here is how the group of students from the same conference sounded two years ago. I am assuming that it probably didn’t sound that much different today.
According to World Net Daily:
In comments published on FlashReport, she elaborated: “A few years ago the students started the tradition of singing our national anthem in the rotunda at the end of the mock legislative session. While they were at the capitol today, the students wanted a practice run before their legislative session on the Assembly and Senate floors this Saturday. One student suggested singing God Bless America as well as the national anthem, and the other students enthusiastically agreed.
“Just moments after the students finished their impromptu patriotic expression, no less than four CHP officers descended upon the rotunda, along with two sergeant-at-arms. They confronted our staff and demanded to know why our students were singing in the rotunda without a permit from the rules committee. Apparently in the five minutes it took to sing the two patriotic songs, someone had called security and complained,” she wrote.
“The City on the Hill students were absolutely shocked … Why would their elected officials send armed guards to stop them from expressing such love for their country? And why do citizens need a permit to sing patriotic songs in their public buildings?” she said.
That’s a very good question. Perhaps those patriotic pro-American Democrats who control the rules committee who, according to the WND report, sent security to rebuke the students, could answer that question.
And Democrats get bent out of shape when some questions their “patriotism?”
Outrageous. But not surprising given the fact that most of our so called “Democrats” here in California are nothing less than a bunch of anti-American Stalinits.
Bruce McQuain from QandO joined us tonight for another edition of Someone You Should Know. This week, he told us the story of Spc. Micheaux Sanders,
Sanders said he did his best, standing exposed to the enemy in one of the tank’s hatches and firing whatever he or his fellow crewmembers could find. A round struck Sanders in the arm, slicing straight through his shoulder and out the other side, but he says he barely noticed, waving off the medics who tried to come to his aid.
When the bullets ran out, Sanders still wouldn’t give up. “I threw whatever I had at them,†he said. “When we ran out of bullets, I threw rocks.â€
Sanders was awarded the Silver Star when the 1st Armored Division was welcomed home to Germany in October.
The Someone You Should Know radio collaboration began as an extension of Matt Burden’s series at Blackfive. Thanks to Matt, Bruce is now on board and we are lucky to have him as part of the show. All of our interviews are also available for download at iTunes and Podcast Alley via the Pundit Review Radio Podcast.
What is Pundit Review Radio?
Pundit Review Radio is where the old media meets the new. Each week Kevin and Gregg give voice to the work of the most influential leaders in the new media/citizen journalist revolution. Called “groundbreaking†by Talkers Magazine, this unique show brings the best of the blogs to your radio every Sunday evening from 7-10 pm EST on AM680 WRKO, Boston’s Talk Station.
One of our favorite guests is retired Lt. Col Ralph Peters. He has a fantastic new book out that I highly recommend.
Looking For Trouble: Adventures in a Broken World
As the U.S. Army’s chosen troubleshooter before he took off his uniform to write, Peters saw the greatest international dramas of our times and the personal tragedies they created from a truly unique perspective–and took advantage of every moment _outside of the wire._ The result is startling: the liveliest adventure memoir by an American in decades, a perfect balance of high drama and laugh-out-loud hilarity.
As I told Ralph tonight before the show, I laughed out loud every few pages. This is a fascinating, educational and gripping book, beautifully written.

The one considered by many to be the “Founding Father” of the modern American Conservative Movement, Paul Weyrich, had a brilliant piece out today in which he discusses the single greatest problem in the “conservative” movement.
I have had the pleasure and honor of getting to know Mr. Weyrich over the past few months and have a great deal of respect for him. He was one of the few who, once he learned the truth about Mitt Romney, retracted his endorsement, refering to it as the “biggest mistake of (his) life” at the CNP meeting in New Orleans a few months ago. He has also recently become increasingly aware that many of the leading “pro-family” and “Christian” organizations, lawyers, and commentators have been perpetuating the toxic liberal lie that courts can “legalize” things such as “same sex marriage.”
With boldness, he calls on fellow conservatives to reject this dangerous lie calling on executives (governors and presidents alike) to ignore and reject anti-constitutional advisory opinions like Jefferson, Adams, and Lincoln all did, instead of violating their constitutional oaths and enforcing those opinions as if they were actual laws.
It is a must read.
For the sake of this republic I urge my friends, fellow leaders and Americans emphatically to repudiate the devastating myth that judges have the power to make and redefine our laws. We should do so rapidly and forcefully before our republic is replaced by the irresistible tyranny of men and women who believe that nihilist elites should make the rules and pass them to judges for formal announcement when the time is ripe for the latest step into the post-rule of law, post-moral abyss. Otherwise our “conservatism” will continue to be merely the rearguard for subtle left-wing revolution.

If only our political “leaders” had this guy’s courage and boldness. Instead we have a president who calls Islam a “religion of peace.”
Al Gore’s official biography details his long fight to save the planet from Global Warming.
Since his earliest days in the U. S. Congress 30 years ago, Al Gore has been the leading advocate for confronting the threat of global warming. His pioneering efforts were outlined in his best-selling book Earth in the Balance: Ecology and the Human Spirit (1992). He led the Clinton-Gore Administration’s efforts to protect the environment in a way that also strengthens the economy.
What is Al Gore celebrating? Only defeating the “most dangerous crisis by far that our civilization has ever confronted.” That is some accomplishment, congratulations Al.
The Space and Science Research Center Issues A Formal Declaration:
Global Warming Has Ended – The Next Climate Change to A Pronounced Cold Era Has Begun“After an exhaustive review of a substantial body of climate research, and in conjunction with the obvious and compelling new evidence that exists, it is time that the world community acknowledges that the Earth has begun its next climate change. In an opinion echoed by many scientists around the world, the Space and Science Research Center (SSRC), today declares that the world’s climate warming of the past decades has now come to an end. A new climate era has already started that is bringing predominantly colder global temperatures for many years into the future.
Always a champion of the environment, Al is ready for the next “climate change” challenge,
Hat Tip to the always fascinating and educational QandO.
My love affair with Nancy Pelosi continues unabated. She never, ever let’s me down.
Is she calling 241 years of economic theory “a hoax”? She is saying that “it takes a long time” and that energy companies “don’t have the equipment to do it”? Either way, she’s wrong as could be. The economic theory, of course, is the law of supply and demand,
The phrase “supply and demand” was first used by James Denham-Steuart in his Inquiry into the Principles of Political Economy, published in 1767. Adam Smith used the phrase in his 1776 book The Wealth of Nations
And the notion that we don’t have the technology available is brutally uninformed. America is home to the greatest drilling technology in the world. One example, Nancy, is Transocean,
HOUSTON, May 21, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) — Transocean Inc. (NYSE:RIG) today announced that the Transocean jackup GSF Rig 127 set a world record for the longest extended-reach well ever drilled at 40,320 feet (12,289 meters) MD (measured depth) with a 35,770-foot (10,902-meter) horizontal section…
…The new record of 7.6 miles is also the first well in the history of offshore drilling that exceeds 40,000 feet (12,191 meters). The well surpasses by approximately 2,000 feet the prior extended-reach record of 38,322 feet (11,680 meters) MD set by another drilling contractor with a land rig drilling at Sakhalin Island earlier this year.
Of course, this well was not drilled along our coast, because it’s “protected“.
The well was drilled offshore Qatar in 36 days and incident-free.
The average American consumes 25 barrels of oil per year. The average Chinese is 2 barrels and the average Indian is less than 1 barrel. We have a supply challenge to meet this rising demand for decades to come. So what if we won’t see any oil years? We’ll need it when we can get it.
And on the subject of how long it will take, the Democrats have been throwing around “ten years”. Energy expert Eric Bolling, knew that was wrong, so he checked for himself,
A Congressman followed my segment and suggested that drilling wouldn’t help for 10 years or more. I know this is absolutely untrue, so I called Transocean, the biggest driller in the world. An officer of the company told me that depending on the location of the drilling, oil could be realized in as little as a year.
Ultra-deepwater fields might produce in 3-5 years. For the most remote locations, without any prior infrastructure support, that barrel may require a 4-6 year window. I suggested 8 years and he said that he could not envision a situation where it would require more than 6 years to bring a barrel out of the ocean floor.
Nancy Pelosi is ignoring the law of supply and demand, and she is ignorant of what today’s leading deepwater drillers, American drillers, are capable of. Meanwhile, places like Qatar and Brazil are exploiting their natural resources while America is stuck with no new supplies, increasing reliance on imported oil and higher gas prices for as far as the eye can see. More than 40 congressional hearings later and the only thing we have learned is that Congress is the biggest impediment to energy independence.
Disclosure: I own a few shares of Transocean in an IRA.
