BREAKING: Increase in global temps caused by scientists cooking the books

Carbon-Footprint-8-18-7

When is the bad news going to stop for the Gorebots and true believers of the Man Made Climate Change? After the Nopenhagen Climate Conference and the utterly devastating release of emails and source data from the University of East Anglia, it appears that the answer is, not soon enough.

While we have been focused on bringing hope and change to Massachusetts via our recent U.S. Senate election, quite a few bits of rather inconvenient information have crossed the newswires that you might have missed.

Remember all those wild claims about melting glaciers? Turns out that data was cooked too. The best part is who the chef was. The very UN panel, the very report in fact, that won them and Al Gore a Nobel Peace Prize.

president-al-gore

Do those come with expiration dates?

The Indian head of the UN climate change panel defended his position yesterday even as further errors were identified in the panel’s assessment of Himalayan glaciers…

…The IPCC’s 2007 report, which won it the Nobel Peace Prize, said that the probability of Himalayan glaciers “disappearing by the year 2035 and perhaps sooner is very high”.

But it emerged last week that the forecast was based not on a consensus among climate change experts, but on a media interview with a single Indian glaciologist in 1999.

The IPCC admitted on Thursday that the prediction was “poorly substantiated” in the latest of a series of blows to the panel’s credibility.

NASA/GISS Accused Of Data Mainpulation In Support Of Man-Made Global Warming Agenda. Bruce McQuain at QandO explains,

After the scandal concerning the CRU at the University of East Anglia, this may be the sound of the second shoe dropping.

Data from the National Climate Data Center (NCDC) in Asheville, North Carolina and the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) at Columbia University in New York City, both associated with the US Government and the UN’s IPCC, have come under fire from two researchers. Programmer E. Michael Smith and Certified Consulting Meteorologis Joseph D’Aleo have combed through the data and the programming from which conclusions were made about man-made global warming and claim the data used was both cherry-picked and manipulated to produce findings that supported the hypothesis that man was responsible for climate change.

How ironic is it that Al Gore loses the closest election in recent history AND sees his precious and profitable Global Warming Climate Change boondoggle ruined at the very last minute. Coinsider all these cooked books the hanging chads of the scientific community. So close Al, you almost had your global government, your nanny state on steroids. Hey, look at the brightside, you took nearly a billion dollars off the table before people caught on to the scam. Al Gore, blows it again. How fitting.

Copenhagen Gorebots Jump The Shark

Everybody has a limit. I’ve been following the events in Copenhagen with detached bemusement. There have been some great moments of unintentional honesty, especially when the delegates talk about what is standing in the way of a deal, namely, they want more, much more money that is, to be transferred from the United States taxpayers to countries like China in order to help them ‘go green’. Their plan, for us, is to borrow more money we don’t have from China and then turn around and give that money to China to help them in their transition to becoming eco-warriors.

This morning I’ve reached my breaking point with the Gorebots in Copenhagen. How much Hot Air can we take? Via David Corn’s twitter feed came this,

British BC premier praises Arnold’s (Schwarzenegger) many alt-energy initiatives. No movie jokes but calls him “Climate Action Hero” #COP15 #Copenhagen

If Arnold Schwarzenegger is a Climate Action Hero, then I’m Brad Pitt. From the archives, in honor of the absurdidty of Copenhagen…

Eco hypocrite of the day: Arnold Schwarzenegger

Kalifornia Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger exiting his new 6.1-liter V-8 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8.

Schwarzenegger Signs Global Warming Bill

“We simply must do everything we can in our power to slow down global warming before it is too late,” Schwarzenegger said during an address before signing the bill.

By “we” he obviously means you and me and not him.

“I’m convinced of that … because nothing is more important than protecting our planet,”

Well, except of course the thrill of driving the Mother of All HEMI’s with 425 horses and 420 pound-feet of torque!

If I was a glass half full kind of guy, this could be cited as progress. After all, he recently (was forced to) stop taking his Gulfstream to work everyday!

Schwarzenegger’s Jet Commute May End as Santa Monica Seeks Ban

May 1 (Bloomberg) — California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s regular commute by private jet from the state capitol to his mansion in Los Angeles has hit turbulence.

A federal judge will decide on May 15 whether the governor can land aboard a Gulfstream IV in Santa Monica, a 15-minute drive to his home in Los Angeles’ wealthy Brentwood enclave. The governor’s brother-in-law, Bobby Shriver, is among the Santa Monica city council members who voted unanimously on March 25 to ban large jets at the municipal airport.

In typical politician and entertainer fashion, the cutbacks and conservation required to combat “the most dangerous crisis we have ever faced” are left to us, the little people. The big shots keep their private jets, limos and gas guzzelers so they can travel freely in order to give speeches about the danger of Global Warming.

Chris Horner and Bruce McQuain on Climategate

What a pleasure this was, two of my favorite pundits on the topic of global warming alarmism, Chris Horner and Bruce McQuain.

Chris Horner is author of Red, Hot, Lies and one of my favorite and most frequent guests. Chris has been in the news recently for his Freedom of Information Act request to NASA which has been ignored for nearly two years. In the wake of Climategate, it is easy to understand why people might wonder about the motives behind the stonewalling,

Researcher: NASA hiding climate data

Chris Horner, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, said NASA has refused for two years to provide information under the Freedom of Information Act that would show how the agency has shaped its climate data and would explain why the agency has repeatedly had to correct its data going as far back as the 1930s.

“I assume that what is there is highly damaging,” Mr. Horner said. “These guys are quite clearly bound and determined not to reveal their internal discussions about this.”

At QandO , Bruce McQuain does an amazing job analyzing all aspects of the global warming debate from the science to politics to the money trail.

The charade is over. The intentions of the Gorebots has been made clear. This is about money and power, wealth transfer from the US to China, India and others. Copenhagen proves that. I hope it is a spectacular failure.

Cape Wind saga goes from ridiculous to the sublime

When are we going to get serious about energy independence? We have talked it to death since 9/11, the ultimate wake-up-call. Unfortunately, everyone in Washington, and the American people, have hit the snooze button. This is insane that we allow it to continue.

Locally, we have the long delayed Cape Wind project. A $1 billion dollar, cutting edge project that could put the state, if not the region, at the forefront of this green energy, green jobs revolution I keep hearing about. First we had to deal with the noted outdoorsmen and environmentalist, Sen. Edward Kennedy, and his repeated obstructions.

kennedycapewindthumbnail

After he passed away, many Cape Wind proponents thought momentum would turn back in their favor. That has not been the case. We’ve gone from the ridiculous (Liberals opposing massive “green” project) to the sublime, literally,

More delays for Cape Wind

Cape Wind seemed near final approval after it passed a major environmental review in January, but that’s been delayed by the Wampanoag tribes in Mashpee and Martha’s Vineyard.

The tribes argue the entire sound is eligible for a listing on the National Register of Historic Places as their “traditional cultural property.”

The Wampanoags say they need that protection because Cape Wind’s 130 turbines will be visible several miles away on the horizon, destroying their ancient rituals, which require an unblocked view of the sunrise.

As a country, we are faced with serious financial and security threats and they are, frankly, standing in the way of progress.

What makes this all the more maddening is that back in May, Cape Wind passed what should have been their final hurdle before beginning work on the country’s first offshore wind farm.

Cape Wind: Final State Approval to Begin Development

The Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board today gave its final approval to Cape Wind, issuing the long awaited “super permit” necessary for development to begin on the clean energy project supported by over 86 percent of Massachusetts residents.

What next? Is PETA going to file an injunction because some fish may have to change zip codes? Enough is enough with the delays.

UN looking for $1 trillion annually to pave over ocean floor?

UN Report Calls for More Funds to Combat Global Warming

Here is the deeply concerned, committed eco-warrior and UN bureaucrat who would like $1 trillion of your money, annually, drinking from her bottled water at the press conference. Bwaaaaaaaaaaa.

tiziana_bonapace

The United Nations is calling for billions of dollars to be spent by governments to fight climate change and greenhouse gasses to stem rising global temperatures. A United Nations report released Tuesday calls for major spending of nearly $600 billion by governments to deal with the impact of global warming. The report, Promoting Development, Saving the Planet, said that up to $1 trillion a year would be needed to deal with issues of climate change in the future.

Is that all? What are they planning to with all of our that money? Pave the ocean floor?

Methane gas likely spewing into the oceans through vents in sea floor

Scientists worry that rising global temperatures accompanied by melting permafrost in arctic regions will initiate the release of underground methane into the atmosphere. Once released, that methane gas would speed up global warming by trapping the Earth’s heat radiation about 20 times more efficiently than does the better-known greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide.

An MIT paper appearing in the Journal of Geophysical Research online Aug. 29 elucidates how this underground methane in frozen regions would escape and also concludes that methane trapped under the ocean may already be escaping through vents in the sea floor at a much faster rate than previously believed. Some scientists have associated the release, both gradual and fast, of subsurface ocean methane with climate change of the past and future.

What’s my point? Simple. It’s the incredible arrogance of these Global Warming Climate Change fanatics who KNOW FOR A FACT, the debate is OVER, and we, humans, are the main cause of whatever they are calling it this week. Our impact on earth’s temps are at the margin, at best. These people are so arrogant they actually believe they can legislate the earth’s temperature. Say that again. They believe they can legislate the earth’s temperature. Here’s John Tierney at the New York Times,

President Obama and the rest of the Group of 8 leaders decreed last month that the planet’s average temperature shall not rise more than 2 degrees Fahrenheit above today’s level.

The Gorebots have exaggerated and lied for years, and now, well, in the words of the spiritual mentor to the President of the United States of America, the chickens are coming home to roost. The passing of time, not to mention scientists who didn’t stop, well, doing science, are making them look like zealots and frauds.

Inconvenient News Update

Al-Gore-R

INCONVENIENT: Backfire: Americans say global warming climate change “exaggerated

“Here’s what Gallup found: The number of Americans who say the media have exaggerated global warming jumped to a record 41 percent in 2009, up from 35 percent a year ago. The most marked increase came among political independents, whose ranks of doubters swelled from 33 percent to 44 percent. Republican doubters grew from 59 percent to 66 percent, while Democratic skeptics stayed at around 20 percent.”

Finally, a significant percentage of Americans realize that the End of Days rhetoric has jumped the shark.

INCONVENIENT: The Climate Change Climate Change: The number of skeptics is swelling everywhere

Joanne Simpson, the world’s first woman to receive a Ph.D. in meteorology, expressed relief upon her retirement last year that she was finally free to speak “frankly” of her nonbelief. Dr. Kiminori Itoh, a Japanese environmental physical chemist who contributed to a U.N. climate report, dubs man-made warming “the worst scientific scandal in history.” Norway’s Ivar Giaever, Nobel Prize winner for physics, decries it as the “new religion.” A group of 54 noted physicists, led by Princeton’s Will Happer, is demanding the American Physical Society revise its position that the science is settled. (Both Nature and Science magazines have refused to run the physicists’ open letter.)

INCONVENIENT: The Revolt of the Scientists,

Bruce @QandO, “Apparently it is getting a little hot in the scientific community when it comes to AGW and skepticism. And it is the skeptics who are firing the broadsides.”

INCONVENIENT: Peer-reviewed study from Down Under points to nature as global warming source

Three Australian scientists have published a study in the Journal of Geophysical Research claiming that virtually none of the observed temperature increases in the Earth’s atmosphere in recent years can be attributed to man-made factors.

“The surge in global temperatures since 1977 can be attributed to a 1976 climate shift in the Pacific Ocean that made warming El Niño conditions more likely than they were over the previous 30 years and cooling La Niña conditions less likely” de Freitas said. “We have shown that internal global climate-system variability accounts for at least 80% of the observed global climate variation over the past half-century. It may even be more if the period of influence of major volcanoes can be more clearly identified and the corresponding data excluded from the analysis,” he added.

Somehow Gorebots believe that the science about something as dynamic as the environment is “settled”. Nothing left to learn.

INCONVENIENT: Obama’s EPA plans fewer toxic cleanups

WASHINGTON - For years, the Bush administration was criticized for not cleaning up enough of America’s most contaminated waste sites. The Obama administration plans to do even less.

Environmental groups and some Democratic lawmakers railed against President George W. Bush’s cleanup record. But this time, they’re shying away from speaking out against a popular president who’s considered an ally in the fight to clean up the environment.

How is he “an ally in the fight to clean up the environment” if he is doing less that that evil, environment hating bastard George W. Bush? Suckers.

INCONVENIENT: New York Times asks Is the Sun Missing Its Spots?

“We still don’t quite understand this beast. The theories we had for how the sunspot cycle works have major problems,” said David Hathaway, a solar physicist at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala

Wow. You mean with new technology and research, models and theories can be proven wrong, improved, changed or adapted. Maybe science is the process of discovery after all?

It ain’t easy being “Green”

Salem News reporter Chris Cassidy has done it again, making my morning espresso that much more enjoyable. In recent weeks it has been his reporting on pension abuses by the Essex Regional Retirement Board. By the way, the Globe’s Sean Murphy joins the party with his own report on the shady dealings at the ERRB.

Today, Chris has a story that demonstrates the folly of much of the “Go Green” movement. It looks like the administrators at North Shore Community College need some lessons on what “being green” is all about. Maybe they should pay Al Gore to fly in on his private jet and give a talk about living the “Green” lifestyle?

Trees axed for parking at college’s ‘green’ building

DANVERS — North Shore Community College touts its proposed allied health building as a model of green technology, complete with solar panels, wind turbines and rainwater harvesting.

But last week, the college embarked on the construction of its $32 million Health Professions and Student Services Building by clearing an acre of mature, 60-foot trees that neighbors say was a habitat for deer and other wildlife….

College President Wayne Burton said they had to provide more parking to make up for the 300 to 400 spaces that will be lost temporarily during construction. To accommodate students by the time they return in September, crews had to start the parking lot construction right away. Burton said the college went ahead as soon as it consulted with the project’s general contractor rather than wait another year for a window of opportunity.

“We didn’t really get the green light to start the project until a month ago,” Burton said. “I wasn’t trying to withhold information. We just didn’t know the information.”

The green light? Rather unfortunate turn of phrase if you ask me. And the tree clearing was for…. a parking lot? Oh the irony. A “green” project that clears an acre of 60-year old trees to make room for internal combustion engines.

And what did we learn today at North Shore Community College? It ain’t easy being green.
