The liberal outrage over questions about Obama’s associates is so revealing. They cannot hide their arrogance and condescention towards the bitter and clingy crowd. Liberals believe themselves to be morally superior to conservatives. They are so high-minded that they see concern over who Obama finds acceptable acquaintences to be off subject, irrelevant. Only simpletons and fools think it matters, they tell themselves. Why should we focus on this nonsense when there is so much to be done for the children?

Obama’s hometown paper reminds liberals what the rest of us simpletons already knew, that Obama’s friendship and comfort with the likes of Rev. Wright and terrorists like Bill Ayers matter, and they matter a lot.

Chicago Tribune
About Obama’s terrorist acquaintance
By Steve Chapman

When William F. Buckley Jr. died in February, one of the things widely praised, by liberals and others, was his stalwart insistence on moral hygiene. Even when his conservative movement was small and embattled, he rejected the temptation to join forces with anti-Semites, the John Birch Society and other extremists…

…It’s hard to imagine he would be so indulgent if we learned that John McCain had a long association with a former Klansman who used to terrorize African-Americans. Obama’s conduct exposes a moral blind spot about these onetime terrorists, who get a pass because they a) fall on the left end of the spectrum and b) haven’t planted any bombs lately.

You can tell a lot about someone from his choice of friends. What this friendship reveals is that when it comes to practicing sound moral hygiene, Obama has work to do and no interest in doing it.

Bruce McQuain has a look at this controvery, McCain’s attempt to keep it alive and Obama’s response. Check it out here.

Todd Feinburg, at his great new blog, Barack’s White Lies, has much more…

More on the unrepentent Bill Ayers here.

Last night on the show we touched on ex-President Jimmy Carter’s anti-American treacherous activities. One of our callers claimed that Carter was not responsible for ushering in the Iranian Revolution in 1979 when the Jihad against America essentially began.

While many, such as one of our caller’s last night, continue to parrot the canard that the Jihad against America was the result of George W Bush’s “unilateral” war-mongering, history clearly shows that the Jihad against America and the West began well before 9-11.

We just don’t get it. The Left in America is screaming to high heaven that the mess we are in in Iraq and the war on terrorism has been caused by the right-wing and that George W. Bush, the so-called “dim-witted cowboy,” has created the entire mess.

The truth is the entire nightmare can be traced back to the liberal democratic policies of the leftist Jimmy Carter, who created a firestorm that destabilized our greatest ally in the Muslim world, the shah of Iran, in favor of a religious fanatic, the ayatollah Khomeini.

Carter viewed Khomeini as more of a religious holy man in a grassroots revolution than a founding father of modern terrorism. Carter’s ambassador to the UN, Andrew Young, said “Khomeini will eventually be hailed as a saint.” Carter’s Iranian ambassador, William Sullivan, said, “Khomeini is a Gandhi-like figure.” Carter adviser James Bill proclaimed in a Newsweek interview on February 12, 1979 that Khomeini was not a mad mujahid, but a man of “impeccable integrity and honesty.”
The shah was terrified of Carter. He told his personal confidant, “Who knows what sort of calamity he [Carter] may unleash on the world?”

rest here

The fact of the matter is that Jimmy Carter has always hated America and has gone out of his way to coddle terrorists and the world’s worst tyrannical dictators. It is important to point out that, ideologically, Carter’s disdain for America is shared by the heart and soul of today’s “blame America first” Democrat Party (Pelosi, Kennedy, Kerry, Obama, Cllinton, Murtha, etc…)Carter’s weakness and ineptitude largely enabled the Islamic Revolution and the Jihad against America. George W. Bush, in spite of his mistakes, has, at the end of the day, kept America free from terrorist attacks post 9-11.

The question for Americans as we go to the polls in November is whether or not we want to return back to the high taxes, high unemployment, high inflation, and conciliatory and emasculated foreign policies of Jimmy Carter.

As to Carter’s being the worst president in U.S. History, we have covered that here many times. A strong case can certainly be made that no single president did more damage to America in as short a period of time as Jimmy Carter.

Purported tape from al-Zawahri calls country ‘most important battlefield’

“Iraq nowadays is the most important battlefield on which our mujahedeen are waging a war against the forces of the Zionist-Christian Crusade,” al-Zawahri said. “Therefore, supporting the mujahedeen in Iraq and especially the Islamic State of Iraq is a most important duty.”

Obama: Shift fight to Afghanistan, Pakistan

WASHINGTON (CNN) –Sen. Barack Obama says he would shift the war on terror to Afghanistan and Pakistan…

In his speech, Obama, D-Illinois, said things would look different in an Obama administration: “When I am president, we will wage the war that has to be won, with a comprehensive strategy with five elements: getting out of Iraq and on the right battlefield in Afghanistan and Pakistan…

pope

The Herald is reporting that the Pope met today with Boston area victims of clergy sex abuse,

NEW YORK CITY – Pope Benedict XVI met privately today with Boston victims of clergy sex abuse, a session long in coming for those abused.

The Rev. Federico Lombardi, a papal spokesman, said that Benedict and Boston Cardinal Sean O’Malley met with a small group of victims and offered them encouragement and hope.

Margery Eagan got it exactly right in the Herald this morning,

The fact is, the pope is not serious about changing the culture that created this mess. If he were, he’d have removed or ex-communicated not only bishops such as Bernard Cardinal Law, who knowingly shuffled abusers from parish to parish, but those accused of abusing children themselves.

Bernard Law is in pretty exclusive company within the Vatican. It is sickening.

Eagan lays out what has to be done,

Bishop-Accountabilty.org, a sobering Web site documenting the hierarchy’s continuing sins, just last weekend posted the names, pictures and abuse charges against 19 Catholic bishops who will never be tried – the statutes of limitations have run out.

They include nine retired bishops. Some have admitted guilt; others have lost hefty civil suits. Thomas L. Dupre of Springfield was accused in 2004 of sexually abusing two youths. He resigned, was indicted for rape but escaped prosecution because the statute of limitations expired.

Anthony J. O’Connell of Florida admitted abusing at least 10 children and stepped down in 2002. Likewise, Lawrence D. Soens of Davenport, Iowa, who was accused of abuse by more than 20 kids at the high school where he taught and was principal.

All three men retain their title as bishops emeritus, as well as the trappings of their office, plus the financial support of the church.

File this outrage under Unfinished Business.

Indeed it is. Yes, the pope has spoken out several times on the sex abuse scandal. But he has done nothing to date and is avoiding Boston and until today, the victims. This much is certain, bold action is not going to be taken. The status quo is nothing less than not good enough.

Imagine Karl Rove, having worked as a political advisor and controversial strategist for both terms of the Bush presidency, being named as Cheif Political Correspondent for a major network. Insane, right? Could never, ever happen in a million years.

Isn’t that essentially what we have in George Stephanopoulos at ABC News? Two-terms working the war room and fighting political battles for the Clinton’s, now foisted upon the American public as an impartial journalist. Ever hear any hue and cry from the left about his ascention from White House backroom brawler to top of the media food chain? Of course not, because he was one of their own. If you think about it, ditto for Tim Russert and Chris Matthews too.

Literally overnight, Stephy’s gone from one of them, to one of us. Welcome to the even more vast than we could have ever possibly know right wing conspiracy George.

Stephy isn’t pro-Democrat, he’s a pro-Clinton, Hannitized hack. This must be more of that nuance that liberals are always talking about.

Hot Air has more on this stunning turnaround.

UPDATE: Now Mary Mapes, formerly of CBS News thanks to the Bush National Guard fiasco, is lecturing ABC. I’m sure they are listening closely. She knows of what she speaks, shoddy journalism.

Rick Ayers writes on Huff Post today, defending his brother William, the “so-called” Weather Underground terrorist,

Clinton’s McCarthyism (and my Brother Bill Ayers)

The fact that she would drag up this pathetic red herring about Obama’s alleged ties to so-called terrorist Bill Ayers (my brother!) brings her right down to the level of Fox News and the National Enquirer (which also suggested that Obama had murdered his gay lover). Obama needed to call this tactic for what it is: McCarthyism.

This is a howler, even for the Huffingon Post. In the world of the far left, truth has become McCarthyism. Sorry Rick, but your brother IS a terrorist

ter·ror·ist

–noun
1. a person, usually a member of a group, who uses or advocates terrorism. Check.
2. a person who terrorizes or frightens others. Check

William Ayers is proud of being a terrorist, and somewhat disappointed in himself that he wasn’t a better one. Why would his brother deny something that William Ayers is obviously so proud of? Here is William Ayers, infamously, quoted in the Paper of Record, on September 11, 2001,

”I don’t regret setting bombs,” Bill Ayers said. ”I feel we didn’t do enough.”

…Everything was absolutely ideal on the day I bombed the Pentagon,” he writes. But then comes a disclaimer: ”Even though I didn’t actually bomb the Pentagon — we bombed it, in the sense that Weathermen organized it and claimed it.” He goes on to provide details about the manufacture of the bomb and how a woman he calls Anna placed the bomb in a restroom. No one was killed or injured, though damage was extensive.

Between 1970 and 1974 the Weathermen took responsibility for 12 bombings, Mr. Ayers writes, and also helped spring Timothy Leary (sentenced on marijuana charges) from jail.

Those Rick, are the actions of a terrorist. Maybe you’re too embarrassed to admit it to yourself, I don’t know (who could blame you). But to insist that it is McCarthyism to accurately portray what your brother was, and perhaps will be again,

So, would Mr. Ayers do it all again, he is asked? ”I don’t want to discount the possibility,” he said.

is simply dishonest, ignorant of history and frankly pathetic.

What a day for the junior senator from Massachusetts. It is, after all, a special anniversary for our very accomplished legislator….

…and he is being dragged into the presidential campaign by Hillary Clinton, who says Barack Obama suffers from the same snob problem that hurt John Forbes Kerry,

The Note: Bitter Tastes
Clinton Casts Obama As John Kerry, As Pa. Battle Rages

We had our clues back in the arugula-wilting Iowa sun (and one does have to wonder whether his lanky frame is better suited for windsurfing than bowling).

Maybe Sen. Barack Obama’s biggest fear should never have been becoming Jesse Jackson. Maybe it should have been becoming John Kerry.
