Ho hum, another day, a couple of more championships for Boston area….

BC Eagles beat Irish to take NCAA hockey title

DENVER – The names came filtering down. Bernie Burke. Len Ceglarski. The so-called ’49ers, whose championship spawned the Pike’s Peak booster club at The Heights. Brian Gionta and 2001.

The current crop of Boston College skaters listened intently as coach Jerry York tried to explain their newly won place in college hockey history after the Eagles handled every challenge that Notre Dame could throw at them in a 4-1 win last night in the NCAA Division 1 championship game at the Pepsi Center.

Arcade ace: Salem man wins world pinball championship

SALEM — Break out the Champagne and get ready to celebrate: Another championship title has come to New England.

For those who have grown bored watching the Red Sox and Patriots win sports titles year after year, there’s Bowen Kerins. The 32-year-old Salem resident last week was crowned world champion.

Of pinball.

Meanwhile, down in New York, they are going crazy over a report that a construction worked put a Red Sox jersey into the concrete mix at the new Yankee Stadium that is being built. Jay Fitz at Hub Blog has the delicious details,

Didn’t and don’t believe in curses. But I do like how New Yorkers are making fools of themselves — from the mayor on down — by going down the silly theatrical curse path. The Sox have really gotten in their heads. … FYI: The Yanks initially denied a Sox jersey was thrown into the cement mix at the new Yankees Stadium. The NYPost has pictures proving otherwise. The construction guy who did it sounds pretty funny. The witch part, though, is pure Shaughnessyesque. New Yorkers should be embarrassed. …

Sweet, sweet Schadenfreude.

UPDATE: Hub Blog says the Yankees had a work crew Jackhammer away at the house that Geroge built until they found the shirt and removed it. His summary,

New Yorkers have lost their minds.

If you don’t believe him,

They’ve turned into us.

Our friend from Cape Cod Cares for Our Troops, 15-year old Dylan DeSilva, was recently profiled on NECN as his great organization prepared to send their 3,000 care package to the troops. What an incredible young man.

You can learn more about Dylan here, here and here.

Dylan is hard at work getting ready for his annual Memorial Day rally on Cape Cod. I had the pleasure of attending last year, and what this young man pulled off was truly incredible. I hear he is planning an even bigger event this year.

Congratulations and thank you Dylan for all you do.

Is there anyone left who doesn’t understand that Bill Clinton is a pathological liar? Get a load of this, just as the controversy was dying down, Bill gives it new life,

Bill Clinton defends wife’s Bosnia remarks

“You know, I got tickled the other day. A lot of the way this whole campaign has been covered has amused me. But there was a lot of fulminating because Hillary, one time late at night when she was exhausted, misstated — and immediately apologized for it — what happened to her in Bosnia in 1995 [sic]. Did y’all see all that? Oh, they blew it up.

I have to hand it to him, not many people can lie four times in one sentence. “One time” is a well documented lie. “Late at night” is also a lie. The speech she was busted for was at 11am, not pm. “Mistated” is also a lie. She made it up out of whole cloth. Only a Clinton could consider that a “mistatement”. As for the “immediate” apology, that didn’t happen either.

MID POST UPDATE: ABC’s Jake Tapper says it’s five lies, not four, and adds,

Former President Bill Clinton offered this bit of revisionist history of his wife’s Bosnia story in Jasper, Ind., today, one riddled with a veritable sniper fire of errors — ones necessitating footnotes.

On November 13, 2007 I did a post titled “Bill is intent on destroying Hillary

Hub Blog has named this The subconscious-torpedo theory!

My earlier prediction with regard to Hillary’s presidential campaign was the Bill would somehow subconsciously torpedo her presidential ambitions late in the general election campaign. Maybe it would be having his picture snapped leaving some urban cougar’s apartment, something along those lines.

Now I think the combination of his massive ego and temper may do her in long before the general election.

Maybe I should have added mental illness to the list?

How can you tell if someone is a pathological liar?

1. Exaggerates things that are ridiculous. Check

2. One-upping. Whatever you do, this person can do it better. You will never top them in their own mind, because they have a concerted need to be better than everyone else. This also applies to being right. If you try to confront an individual like this, no matter how lovingly and well-intentioned you might be – this will probably not be effective. It’s threatening their fantasy of themselves, so they would rather argue with you and bring out the sharp knives than admit that there’s anything wrong with them. Check

3. They “construct” a reality around themselves. Check

4. Because these people don’t value honesty, a lot of times they will not value loyalty. So watch what you tell them. They will not only tell others, but they will embellish to make you look worse. Their loyalty is fleeting, and because they are insecure people, they will find solace in confiding to whomever is in their favor at the moment. Check

5. They may be somewhat of a hypochondriac. This can come in especially useful when caught in a lie, for example, they can claim that they have been sick, or that there’s some mysteriously “illness” that has them all stressed out. It’s another excuse tool for their behavior. Check

6. Obviously, they will contradict what they say. This will become very clear over time. They usually aren’t smart enough to keep track of so many lies (who would be?). Double check.

Syndiated talk show host and all around good guy Todd Feinburg, at his new blog Barack’s White Lies, says Obama suffers from “ego weakness”,

This is the good thing about long, tedious campaigns. They give you the time to pick away at the illusions that candidates create and learn a bit about what they’re made of. Barack is showing ego weakness – all he had to do was say, “Ya, I was speaking extemporaneously a couple of times and slightly mischaracterized the McCain position. I regret that, because the truth is bad enough that no exaggeration is needed.”

That ego weakness will ensure that this story stays in the news until it reaches its inevitable conclusion, a heaping serving of humble pie for Obama when he finally has to admit to his deception in order for the story to go away.

Jay Bilas played college basketball for Duke and had a cup of coffee in the NBA. For more than a decade he has been an ESPN commentator while maintaining a career as a lawyer in Charlotte.

Apparently, he doesn’t suffer fools gladly, as you will see in this unfortunate interview with fellow ESPNer Dan Le Batard,

I say good for Jay Bilas, he did the right thing. What do you think?

Is there a more loathsome member of Congress?

It’s nice to see this kind of report on CBS News, but it would have better if they brought themselves to utter the word D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T. Just the latest installment in guess the party.

It was a pleasure to welcome back Bill Gertz, defense and national security reporter for The Washington Times. He has been breaking stories about China’s plans for a harsh crackdown against dissidents. We talked about the protests in London and what he termed the “appeasement” of the Bush administration.
