When Marcus Luttrell’s book Lone Survivor came out, Blackfive commented,
Finally, the story of one of the most harrowing battles in our nation’s history is being told.
A key participant in that battle, Navy SEAL LT. Michael Murphy, has posthumously received the nation’s highest award, the Medal of Honor. Incredibly, his hometown newspaper isn’t interested in his story. They, the New York Times, have yet to cover it.
Bruce McQuain from QandO has put together a moving tribute to this American hero.

What is Pundit Review Radio?
Pundit Review Radio is where the old media meets the new. Each week Kevin and Gregg give voice to the work of the most influential leaders in the new media/citizen journalist revolution. Called “groundbreaking†by Talkers Magazine, this unique show brings the best of the blogs to your radio every Sunday evening from 7-10 pm EST on AM680 WRKO, Boston’s Talk Station.
We had the honor of speaking with Rear Admiral Gregory Slavonic recently on Pundit Review Radio. RADM Slavonic has held a number of senior communications positions in the Navy, including Chief of Information overseeing all aspects of the Public Affairs Program and Director of Public Affairs, MultiNational Force – Iraq.
RADM Slavonic was terrific talking about his experiences working with a media. He touched on many challenges such as setting up and executing the embed program, the volume of requests and the agenda of certain media outlets. He also told some great stories about big media diva’s. One foreign correspondent gets special attention. Listen to find out who it is.

The Editors at the Wall St. Journal sum it up perfectly.
In Olso Friday, the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize was not awarded to the Burmese monks whose defiance against, and brutalization at the hands of, the country’s military junta in recent weeks captured the attention of the Free World.
The prize was also not awarded to Morgan Tsvangirai, Arthur Mutambara and other Zimbabwe opposition leaders who were arrested and in some cases beaten by police earlier this year while protesting peacefully against dictator Robert Mugabe.
Or to Father Nguyen Van Ly, a Catholic priest in Vietnam arrested this year and sentenced to eight years in prison for helping the pro-democracy group Block 8406.
Or to Wajeha al-Huwaider and Fawzia al-Uyyouni, co-founders of the League of Demanders of Women’s Right to Drive Cars in Saudi Arabia, who are waging a modest struggle with grand ambitions to secure basic rights for women in that Muslim country.
Or to Colombian President Àlvaro Uribe, who has fought tirelessly to end the violence wrought by left-wing terrorists and drug lords in his country.
Or to Garry Kasparov and the several hundred Russians who were arrested in April, and are continually harassed, for resisting President Vladimir Putin’s slide toward authoritarian rule.
Or to the people of Iraq, who bravely work to rebuild and reunite their country amid constant threats to themselves and their families from terrorists who deliberately target civilians.
Read the rest of the people who didn’t recieve the “award” which was given to a delusional man who made a movie full of lies, distortions, and propaganda- a man who- by the way- won’t debate the topic in public with anybody critical of his movie. Awarding the “peace prize” to Gore illustrates how morally and intellectually bankrupt the Left is.
As Hollywood begins to roll out a half dozen, soon-to-be flops that smear our soldiers and country, I’ve been alerted by Huntress at Diary of a Hollywood Refugee that sometimes, they do get it right.
Apparently, last night’s episode of Ghost Whisperer on CBS was one such show,
The cast and crew felt that the soldiers brought dignity, integrity, and honor to the episode. They got to meet real heroes, got to say thank you, and were forever changed.
This episode was a tribute to those who have fought and are now fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan; to their families who wait, wonder, hope and pray; to those who came back physically and emotionally wounded, and to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Tonight, Hollywood done me proud.
Talk about the exception to the rule!
Not much apparently. That is the difference between what Al Gore says will happen “when” the polar ice caps melt. The oceans will rise 20 feet. The UN environmental panel that “shares” the Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore says the effect would be more like 18 inches. Why quibble over such small differences?
Today, Al Gore joins other notable frauds who have won the Nobel Peace Prize recently (Yassar Arafat, Jimmy Carter).
When we’ve asked actual experts in the field of climatology and global warming about Al Gore, they tell us that he has done more than anyone to poison the debate on this issue. The Nobel committee disagrees,
“for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change”
If you want to educate yourself on this issue, I urge you to listen to these interviews with world renowned experts as they discuss Al Gore’s fundamental dishonesty and the true impact of Global Warming.
M.I.T. Professor of Atmospheric Science Dr. Richard Lindzen
…the man Al Gore is afraid to debate, Bjørn Lomborg, joined us to talk about Global Warming and what we should be doing about it,
UPDATE:Here’s an awesome op-ed on Gore’s win by Bjørn Lomborg.
And finally, Chris Horner, author of the Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming joined us this summer to discuss his book and how the Global Warming Fanatics are abusing the science
Al Gore’s Traveling Global Warming Show
I will admit that Fred Thompson looked pretty tired and at some points nervous during the debate this week and I said so in numerous interviews when I was asked for my opinion on him this week. We are a year out but I believe that he is the closest the GOP has to wearing the Reagan mantle. And as I said many months ago, I believe he will win the nomination and beat Hillary next Novemeber. Remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint. If you have not heard Senator Thompson speak check this speech out last month in Michigan. Judge for yourself. Having heard the other candidates speak numerous times, I believe that Thompson articulates the main objectives of conservatism the best- preserving America from totalitarian Islamic Jihadists intent on destroying America and Western Civilization and preserving American sovereignty from Democrat-Socialists who seek to transform our nation into a Socialist nation and drag us into world government. This guy doesn’t “sugar coat” his message. Exactly the right type of leadership at just the right time in America. I will continue to watch and listen. But I like what I hear from him so far.
Part 1
Part 2
Peter Mulhern also has this piece in Real Clear Politics today entitled, “Why Fred Thompson Will Win”
Thompson’s commitment to governmental modesty makes him the only serious candidate for president who isn’t part of the bipartisan Party of Government. He is the only candidate qualified to build on the success of Ronald Reagan and the only candidate who can counter the Democrat drive for more socialism, particularly as it applies to health care.
Reagan turned America away from the socialist morass of the 1930’s and reconnected us with our deepest political traditions. He reminded us that we don’t want a government, let alone a President, to run the country. Unfortunately, his successors never understood this essential pillar of Reagan’s success. When George W. Bush perpetrated the atrocious statement that “when somebody hurts government has got to move,” the Republican break with Reagan was complete.
Fred Thompson isn’t Ronald Reagan. But he can restore the Republican Party to Reagan’s default settings. He can make the GOP once again the party of the American Revolution and distinguish it sharply from the party of the French, Russian, Chinese, and Cuban Revolutions.
Of course, Matt Burden from Blackfive is all over the news.
Back on September 17, 2006, it was Matt who told us the incredible story of Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy, Navy SEAL Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew G. Axelson and Petty Officer 2nd Class Danny P. Dietz as part of our Someone You Should Know collaboration.
It was these brave men who were part of the resuce mission to get Navy SEAL Marcus Lutrell off the side of a mountain in Afghanistan. The rescue ended up tragically, and was retold in an incredible memoir by Luttrell, titled The Lone Survivor.
