Would it be the end of the world is the Dems take one house next week? I don’t think so. In fact, I think it would be the best thing that could happen to the GOP. If you believe that 2008 is far more important than 2006, as I do, then it is better for the GOP in so many ways. Here are my top three reasons,

1. The GOP Congress has been pitiful. Better than a Democrat Congress, but totally off mission from the 1994 group that took over. Granted, the House has been better than the Senate, but that is damning with faint praise. They need a shock to the system, to wake them up and remind them of what they were in 1994 and what they have become. They’ve become the same thing that happens to all parties in power too long…arrogant, bloated and scandal plagued, ethically challenged and beholden to special interests.

Instapundit has the list of transgressions.

2. Let the country to get a nice full plate of Nancy and the Gang for two years leading up to the next presidential cycle. Chairmen Dinngell, Conyers, Hastings, the hearings, the histrionics, the hypocrisy. Let’s give this gang some of the sunshine they long for. It can only be good for the GOP. They have been out of power so long, they are bound to overreach, to be too cute by half to fumble away any opportunity that is given them. In other words, they will be the same people they have been these past two years as the GOP has handed them one gift after another, none of which they have been able to fully, or even partially take advantage of.

3. The above serving of Nancy and the Gang will damage St. Hillary’s campaign for 2008, which at the moment appears to be a steamroller. Moderate Dem. Mark Warner from Virginia has already dropped out because of his own potential for bimbo eruptions. John Kerry, who had no chance to begin with, has committed career suicide, at least at the national level. If he wants it, the people in this state will keep sending him back to the senate for another 35 years, ala Ted K. Sure, there is Barak Obama, but is he really ready? Does he really want to take on Hillary? I don’t think so.

Let’s summarize: teach them a lesson, show the country the alternative and damage Hillary’s chances in 2008. That is enough for me to secretly root for Nancy and the Gang.

Under the Bush administration, what does 4.4% unemployment mean to the NY Times?

In U.S., mixed signals on jobs

NEW YORK: Job growth in the United States slackened last month, but the labor market was fairly strong, with wages rising, according to statistics the Labor Department released Friday.

The jobs report for October showed that the unemployment rate dropped to 4.4 percent, a five-year low, even though businesses added just 92,000 nonfarm jobs. Economists say that at least 150,000 new jobs are needed every month to keep up with population growth.

Coming four days before Congressional elections, the statistics offer fuel for both sides of the political debate about the health of the economy.

And how did the New York Times cover the unemployment reports during the Clinton Administration?

Why is it that liberals like uber-liberal Seymour Hersh have such a penchant for traveling to other countries, collecting enormous speaking fees, and slamming the US/Military? They claim that the “support the troops” and yet this is what Mr. Hersh said to his audience at McGill in Montreal this week:

If Americans knew the full extent of U.S. criminal conduct, they would receive returning Iraqi veterans as they did Vietnam veterans, Hersh said.
â??In Vietnam, our soldiers came back and they were reviled as baby killers, in shame and humiliation,â? he said. â??It isnâ??t happening now, but I will tell you â?? there has never been an [American] army as violent and murderous as our army has been in Iraq.â?

Hersh is not some “fringe” leftist. He represents the mindset of the heart and soul of today’s Democrat Party. Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton, Nadler, Boxer, Pelosi, Waxman, Hastings, all of the 60s radical liberal Dems share his view in one form or fashion. At least Hersh has the temerity not to mince words as opposed to Kerry who has basicaly said the same throughout his career falsely accusing his fellow soldiers of committing war crimes and accusing our troops in Iraq of “terrorizing women and children” but simultaneouly claiming how much he “supports” the U.S. Military.

I can guarantee you that not one of them will condemn his remarks. They may “apologize” but only if his remarks “offended” anybody’s moral sensiblities. That is really all you need to know about the liberal Democrat Party. They are invested in our defeat in Iraq and in the larger war we are waging with Islamists around the world.

One more reminder why these 60 radicals who control the Democrat Party should never be in control of any major branch of our government as far as I am concerned. They are a treasonous bunch plain and simple.

The GOP will lose 12 net seats and still maintain a majority in the House.
The GOP will lose 2 net seats in the Senate and still maintain their majority.

Dems will claim victory
The Democrats will, however, claim victory saying that their increased representation in both houses of congress proves that Americans are “fed up” with George Bush and his “failed Iraq” policies and irresponsible “tax cuts for the rich.” They will then continue to talk about how this “shift in power” signifies that Aermica is becoming more “moderate” and will call on the Republicans to end their “extreme” policies. The elite media will talk about this proves that the GOP must run a “moderate” Republican in order to compete with Hillary. Only McCain or perhaps a “reasoned Moderate” such as Chuck Hagel. I can hear them now. “We have received a clear mandate from the American people tonight.” They will talk about how when Ruth Bader and Justice Stevens step down (which both very may well in the very near future) how “Bush will need to nominate more “moderate” judges in the mold not of Scalia and Thomas but in the mold of Kennedy and O’Connor. And of course this fallacious logic will justify all sorts of obstruction and fillibustering for the next two years. The bottom line is that they will fall short of their major goal to retake control of Congress and impeach Bush. But they will still claim victory and a clear “mandate.”

Dems will accuse GOP of “stealing” the election (a novel concept for the Dems)
I predict they will also claim that Rove was behind the “negative” campaign strategy and will accuse Rove and the GOP of playing the “race card” againse Harold Ford in TN who I believe will lose to Republican Bob Corker for the US Senate. They will also challenge any race that is within 5,000 votes cliaming “voter intimidation” and “disenfranchisement.” They will claim that the Diebold voting machines were rigged and that Republicans supressed the vote in many urban areas by putting up signs that say “voter ID required” near polling stations. And on and on the excuses and introspection will go during the Democrat month or two of quiet mourning.

Should be a serious “Wake Up Call” for the GOP
And I hope that the GOP gets the message that the voters demand immediate change on a number of issues most notably more aggressive legislation on illegal immigration and serious government spending cuts. The reason that their numbers are low isn’t because they are not taxing and spending enough like Dems are calling for. They are low because for the past 5 years too many Republicans have morphed into Democrats which is not what Republicans want to do if they hope to enact a conservative agenda in the long-run and maitain a sustained governing majority.

Eagle eyed blogger Doug Dobbins has the story,

A state Democratic Party flier for congressional candidate Darcy Burner (WA 8th) includes an ??unauthorized used? photo. This is a nice way of saying they took it and used it. I am sure they hoped the photographer did not have the resources to deal with it being stolen.

Well, they guessed wrong. Michael Yon, and his friends in the blogosphere, got the US Army to reverse course after their unathorized use of this amazingly moving photo. We will do the same to this wanna be moonbat.

That’s the bad news. If we were to look at the glass as half full, this could be considered progress for Democrats. After all, the Democratic National Committee earlier this month had a photo on their home page extolling how much they support our troops. Only problem, the soldiers in the photo were Canadian soldiers.

Vote Democrat: we support Canadian troops, steal from and insult ours! Sounds like a winning platform.
