Here’s what Michael Yon brings to the table on Haditha.
1. His own experience being wrongly accused of murder
2. The perspective of a Green Beret
3. The perspective of a combat reporter who HAS reported on civilian casualties in Iraq.
Few people know what happened last November in Haditha. I first heard about it when the Associated Press called to ask if I was present. The answer was ??no.? But I do know how our troops typically act on counterinsurgency missions, how surprisingly honest they can be about mistakes they make in the field, and the lengths to which they go to avoid collateral civilian injuries when on patrol and conducting raids and ambushes. I also know about being on the business end of an accusatory finger, after having been wrongly accused of murder. I never denied the fistfight or that a man had died as a result. I admitted to it, but no murder was committed. I was nineteen at the time, and in the Army. That was an acute lesson on how bad press can chart a legal trajectory.
From these informed perspectives, comes this collection of comments for consideration.

What an incredibly positive review today of Gregg’s new book, Conservative Comebacks To Liberal Lies, by the one and only Thomas Sowell in Human Events. This is simply amazing, congratulations Gregg!
Human Events
Explosive Facts
By Thomas Sowell
Each year about this time, some parents write in to ask for suggestions of things for their children to read during the summer, in order to counteract the steady diet of liberal-left indoctrination they have been getting in schools and colleges.
This year there is a new book that is almost tailor-made for that purpose. Its title is “Conservative Comebacks to Liberal Lies“ by Gregory Jackson. In it, all sorts of political and media spin are shot to pieces by hard facts.
Wow! And he’s only getting started,
If you think that the Constitution of the United States provides for “separation of church and state,” that George W. Bush is not as smart as either Al Gore or John Kerry, or that the big-money donors to political campaigns give more to the Republicans than to the Democrats, this book provides documented facts showing the opposite.
The book goes literally from A to Z, with 26 chapters covering subjects from abortion to zealots who are terrorists.
Some of the facts cited are historical facts and some are statistical. Among the historical facts is that there is absolutely nothing in the Constitution about a “separation of church and state,” despite how often that phrase has been repeated in the media, in politics, and even in courts of law.

Perhaps this is why the Democrats oppose the tougher House Immigration bill so strongly and favor the weaker Senate version which is, in essecnce, open borders and amnesty.
From the San Diego Tribune:
If an election can turn on a sentence, this could be the one: â??You don’t need papers for voting.â?Â
On Thursday night, Francine Busby, the Democratic candidate for the 50th Congressional District, was speaking before a largely Latino crowd in Escondido when she uttered those words. She said yesterday she simply misspoke.
But someone taped it and a recording began circulating yesterday. After she made that statement at the meeting, Busby immediately said: â??You don’t need to be a registered voter to help (the campaign).â?Â
She said that subsequent statement was to clarify what she meant….
Busby said she was invited to the forum at the Jocelyn Senior Center in Escondido by the leader of a local soccer league. Many of the 50 or so people there were Spanish speakers. Toward the end, a man in the audience asked in Spanish: â??I want to help, but I don’t have papers.â?Â
It was translated and Busby replied: â??Everybody can help, yeah, absolutely, you can all help. You don’t need papers for voting, you don’t need to be a registered voter to help.â?Â…
Busby said that Republicans are now twisting her words. She does not in any way support or advocate that illegal immigrants vote, she said.
â??I was clarifying the question that was being asked in Spanish and then stated that you do not have to be a registered voter to help the campaign because there were many people who appeared to be to be under 18 in the group who wanted to volunteer,â? she said in a statement. â??I’m not surprised that the Republican Party is making this last-minute, desperate ploy and it is absolutely false.â?Â
Nice try Busby. We know what you said and what you meant. Don’t try to pull a Slick Willy “Clinton” on us. We know what the definition of the words “you don’t need papers for voting” is.
Will there be the same outrage about this incident by Peolosi and her friends on the left as there was when they were (rightly) condemning Duke Cunningham for ethics violations while in office? Citizens nationally should be outraged that a United States’ citizen-candidate for the United States House would directly encourage illegal (“undocumented”) aliens to vote in a federal Congressional race.
Thanks to the blogosphere this story is getting legs.
