Same Sex “Marriage”: Illegal in All Fifty States
Gregg Jackson
Monday, July 07, 2008
Townhall.comAbout a month ago, the California Supreme Court, in a 4-3 decision, issued a declaratory opinion that Proposition 22, which states that, “Only a marriage between a man and a woman is valid and recognized in California,†enshrined into statutory law by 61.4% of California voters in 2000 (over four million voters), was “unconstitutional†on the basis that “gender discrimination” violates the equal protection clause of the state constitution.
The LA Times reported that:
“The California Supreme Court struck down the state’s ban on same-sex marriage Thursday in a broadly worded decision that would invalidate virtually any law that discriminates on the basis of sexual orientation.”
Sadly, many of the leading “conservative” and “Christian” pro-family organizations such as AFA, Liberty Council, ADF, FRC, ACLJ, and Focus on the Family have been in full surrender mode conceding this same liberal talking point that the court “legalized same-sex marriage in California” and that the only way to ensure preserving traditional male-female marriage is through a state constitutional amendment scheduled to be on the ballot in November.
The California Supreme Court issued a declaratory opinion that, in the view of the bare majority, banning same sex couples from marrying was unconstitutional and that the language of the initiative statute limiting marriage to one man and one woman must be stricken from the statute. Unfortunately however, the court doesn’t have the constitutional authority to re-write the marriage statute nor any other initiative statute for that matter. According to the California Constitution, only the people can revoke or amend an initiative statute such as Prop 22. Same-sex “marriage†remains, therefore, illegal.
The leading liberal newspapers in the country have been croaking Barack Obama on housing issues in the past few weeks. Good for them. The most recent is a Washington Post article that reveals Barack Obama was a friend of Bill (Osborn, CEO of Northern Trust). He got a similar deal to Friend’s of Angelo (Mozillo, CEO of Countrywide). The Dems have foreclosed, so to speak, on housing as a great campaign issue for them. They’ve given up the high ground.
Washington Post: Obama Got Discount on Home Loan
Campaign Defends Lower Rate as Lender Competition for BusinessThe freshman Democratic senator received a discount. He locked in an interest rate of 5.625 percent on the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage, below the average for such loans at the time in Chicago. The loan was unusually large, known in banker lingo as a “super super jumbo.” Obama paid no origination fee or discount points, as some consumers do to reduce their interest rates.
Even the New York Times can’t ignore the Dems housing hypocrisy,
New York Times: With Friends Like Angelo . . .
Time and again, the Senate is bedeviled by its own clubbiness, its lost sensitivity to how ordinary people live their lives. So it is with Christopher Dodd and Kent Conrad, who turned up on the “Friends of Angelo†V.I.P. list at Countrywide Financial Corporation.
Our own Boston Globe has published an article about Obama’s housing related work as a community organizer. Mickey Kaus called the Globe article, “The most damaging article about Barack Obama I’ve read…”
Boston Globe: Grim proving ground for Obama’s housing policy
The candidate endorsed subsidies for private entrepreneurs to build low-income units. But, while he garnered support from developers, many projects in his former district have fallen into disrepair.
Obama’s camp must be wondering why these liberal newspapers are being so mean spirited. I’m wondering why this isn’t a bigger campaign issue.
ABC News: Obama Shifts on Welfare Reform
ABC News’ Teddy Davis and Gregory Wallace Report: Barack Obama aligned himself with welfare reform on Monday, launching a television ad which touts the way the overhaul “slashed the rolls by 80 percent.” Obama leaves out, however, that he was against the 1996 federal legislation which precipitated the caseload reduction.
Ed Morrisey at Hot Air offers some good perspective,
This isn’t as egregious as most of the reversals Obama has made in this campaign. After all, McCain reversed himself on the Bush tax cuts for good reason: they worked. So did welfare reform, and Obama could make exactly the same case. However, instead of treating it honestly, Obama wants to lie and pretend that he was for Bill Clinton’s welfare reform all along instead of just admitting he called that one wrong as a rookie legislator.

Schwarzenegger Signs Global Warming Bill
“We simply must do everything we can in our power to slow down global warming before it is too late,” Schwarzenegger said during an address before signing the bill.
By “we” he obviously means you and me and not him.
“I’m convinced of that … because nothing is more important than protecting our planet,”
Well, except of course the thrill of driving the Mother of All HEMI’s with 425 horses and 420 pound-feet of torque!
If I was a glass half full kind of guy, this could be cited as progress. After all, he recently (was forced to) stop taking his Gulfstream to work everyday!
Schwarzenegger’s Jet Commute May End as Santa Monica Seeks Ban
May 1 (Bloomberg) — California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s regular commute by private jet from the state capitol to his mansion in Los Angeles has hit turbulence.
A federal judge will decide on May 15 whether the governor can land aboard a Gulfstream IV in Santa Monica, a 15-minute drive to his home in Los Angeles’ wealthy Brentwood enclave. The governor’s brother-in-law, Bobby Shriver, is among the Santa Monica city council members who voted unanimously on March 25 to ban large jets at the municipal airport.
In typical politician and entertainer fashion, the cutbacks and conservation required to combat “the most dangerous crisis we have ever faced” are left to us, the little people. The big shots keep their private jets, limos and gas guzzelers so they can travel freely in order to give speeches about the danger of Global Warming.
Of all the issues to go after John McCain on, how high up on the list would you place his military service? The Obama campaign and the fever swamps of the moonbat blogosphere seem to think it is a winning idea.
This is just so stupid it is breathtaking. Is there room under Obama’s bus for one more person? Is this the different kind of politics Obama has been promising? Here’s Bruce at QandO with a reminder for Obama,
Obama: “We’ve got to get beyond the small politics … the slash and burn politics that have become the custom in Washington.” (“Obama Denounces ‘Slash And Burn’ Politics,” The Associated Press, 2/19/07).
Obama: “We don’t want the small, timid, slash and burn, negative campaigning of the past.” (Josh Hafenbrack, “Obama Barack Obama Calls For New Political Spirit During South Florida Campaign Swing,” [Fort Lauderdale, FL] Sun Sentinel, 3/26/07).
Obama: “I know that in Washington it is acceptable to say or do anything it takes to get elected, but I really don’t think that is the kind of politics that is good for our party, and I don’t think it is good for our country, and I think that the American people will reject it in this election.” (Ben Smith, “Obama: Clinton Rewrites History,” The Politico’s “Ben Smith” Blog, www.politico.com, 1/13/08).
Hot Air has a few reminders for Wesley Clark,
Let’s point out a few things about Barack Obama:
In “the matter of national security policy making.†Barack Obama hasn’t ever done anything.
In the matter of gauging your “opponentsâ€, Obama wants to meet with them without preconditions despite having no national-security, military, or diplomatic experience.
Barack Obama hasn’t been on the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Barack Obama hasn’t had any executive experience.
Barack Obama hasn’t commanded anything, in wartime or not.
Barack Obama hasn’t dealt with diplomats in any capacity at all.
Barack Obama hasn’t ordered the bombs to fall, although to be fair, he has associated himself with someone who has — William Ayers.
Bottom Line for Barack Obama: His words are meaningless. Actions are what count.
Yesterday’s New York Post editorial addressed Obama’s Kerryesque Flip Flopping on important issues,
* Last fall, a spokesman said of a controversial element in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act reauthorization bill, “To be clear: Barack will support a filibuster of any bill that includes retroactive immunity for telecommunications companies.”
This week, Obama declared his support for a FISA bill that included just such immunity.
* Last week, Obama switched his position on public financing of presidential campaigns.
* He’s managed to switch his position on NAFTA twice: He supported it before the primary; said he wanted to renegotiate it while campaigning in Ohio – and now has told a magazine interviewer that his language during the primaries may have been “overheated.”
* On foreign policy, his longstanding assertion that he would meet with the leaders of regimes hostile to the United States “without preconditions” has gone by the boards.
* His declaration before AIPAC that he believed in a “united Jerusalem” didn’t even last a news cycle – a spokesman produced a “clarification” within hours after Obama’s speech.
Barack Obama’s words and actions are two very different things. He’s as old politics as they come. In other words, a complete and total fraud.
Clifford Brown
Oct. 10, 1930-June 26, 1956
Unless you really follow the history of jazz, you’ve probably never heard of Clifford Brown. That’s your loss. Clifford Brown was a genius, one of the greatest trumpet players of all time. He burst on the jazz scene in the early 1950’s, at a time when the trumpet was dominated by the likes of Fats Navarro, Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie.
Then along came Clifford. Jazz music was ravaged by hard drug use, but Clifford Brown stood out for his clean lifestyle. No drink or drugs for Clifford Brown. The possibilities for his career were endless. He would not put himself in an early grave like so many jazz greats of the era, including Navarro, who died at 26, or the great Charlie Parker . When the coronor looked at Parker’s body, he estimated his age was between 50-60 years old. He was 34. Clifford Brown was not going to let that happen to him.
Proving that life is not fair, Clifford Brown was killed in a car accident at the tender age of 25. What a tragedy, what a loss for jazz fans.
This is the only live footage of Clifford Brown available on You Tube.
Here is a tribute called I Remember Clifford played by Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers featuring Lee Morgan on trumpet,
Clifford Brown remains the most underappreciated musician in jazz history. If you have an interest in jazz, and especially the trumpet, here are a few CD’s to get you started, Study In Brown, Clifford Brown & Max Roach, and At Basin Street.
If you haven’t seen this yet, prepare to be sickened.
Where to begin with this arrogant pig? First of all, he must be the world’s worst defense attorney if that is his strategy, destroying an 8-year old in a jury trial. I’m sure the jury will be impressed by how tough you are. This guy is a disgrace, not to the citizens of this state, but to humanity itself.
Why would someone feel as though they can get away with such outrageous talk on the floor of the House of Representatives? Because they can. Rep. Fagan, or is that defense attorney Fagan, sometimes it is hard to tell the difference, is running unopposed.
We get the representatives we deserve in Massachusetts.
If you like to tell Rep. Fagan how impressed you are, here’s how to contact him,
