They whupped the Pats tonight and deserved to win the game. Congratulations.
Clearly, given my predictions in the previous post, this is good news for Romney and Obama.
MORNING AFTER UPDATE:
o First thought of the day, this is a bad dream like Groundhog Day, only with six more weeks of Mercury Morris. Ugh.
o Jay is right, the better team won.
o The Giants D-line dominated the Pats and their 3 Pro Bowl offensive lineman.
o Tom Brady was incredibly thoughtful and gracious in his post game remarks. He is a class act. In fact, every Patriot post game interview I saw, they all said the right things.
o Pitchers and catchers report in ten days.

McCain hammers Romney on Tuesday. Mitt will bow out rather than burn through more of his own money.
Obama wins just enough to remain viable for a little longer.
It’s just two days before Superbowl Sunday, but Pennsylvania Republican Sen. Arlen Specter held a press conference today to rail against National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell. Specter is criticizing the NFL’s investigation of the New England Patriots after it was discovered early this season that they’d taped the Jets’ defensive signals during games.
Is the recession over already? How else can one explain a U.S. Senator injecting himself into Super Bowl week to stir up an alleged controversy that the 4,500+ credentialed members of the press somehow missed. Spygate is old news. What happened to the tape is even more obscure news. Nary a word about the fate of the spygate tape was raised this week, until today.
This isn’t just another shameless pol looking for free pub. This isn’t about a bitter Philadelphia Eagles fan still smarting over the Pats Superbowl vistory a couple years back. No, this is all about the NFL’s battle with the cable companies over the NFL Network. Specter chose today, the day of the NFL Commissioner’s annual state of the league press conference. That is no coincidence. Specter is trying to publicly browbeat the commish on this Pats issue to gain concessions for his big campaign contributors from Comcast.
It’s not often that a Washington politician is so brazen in their efforts to do the bidding of special interests. Usually, they just add some language in a bill before anyone notices. That’s how the game has been played in Washington for years. Arlen Specter raised, or lowered depending on your perspective, the bar for shamless pandering today.
Does he really think people will believe this is about spygate? I think old Arlen has been drinking too much of that Comcast Kool-Aid, he’s under the impression that the public will be fooled. Not everyone is as slow as The Slowsky’s Arlen.

Bronze Star recipient Pete Hegseth, executive director and co-founder of Vets for Freedom returned to Pundit Review Radio this afternoon to discuss his organizations upcoming National Heroes Tour.
The National Heroes Tour is about supporting our troops, honoring their commitment, and rallying the country to complete the missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
At this critical juncture in our country, we need Americans, lawmakers and the media, to fully recognize—and appreciate—the sacrifice of our brave military and the dramatic success they have achieved, especially in Iraq with the new counterinsurgency strategy.
Joining Pete will be some of the incredible heroes of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Those of you who are familiar with our Someone You Should Know series should recognize these names, David Bellavia, Marcus Lutrell and Marco Martinez.
In addition to talking about the National Heroes Tour, I had to ask about funding for veterans care and what his group is doing to pressure Congress to do more.
I also asked Pete about Sen. John McCain, who is getting an unbelieveable amount of flack from prominent conservative commentators. Back in January Pete wrote an article for National Review titled, Praise Him: McCain deserves accolades, not attacks
John McCain helped prod this country to change policy — making him, ironically, the most important “change†candidate in this election.

That’s the only kind of honesty that comes from Bill Clinton, isn ‘t it? Here is Bill Clinton on the campaign trail yesterday, once again doing all he can to torpedo his wife’s campaign.
What Did Bill Clinton Mean By “We Just Have to Slow Down Our Economy” to Fight Global Warming?
“Everybody knows that global warming is real,” Mr. Clinton said, giving a shout-out to Al Gore’s Nobel Peace Prize, “but we cannot solve it alone.”
“And maybe America, and Europe, and Japan, and Canada — the rich counties — would say, ‘OK, we just have to slow down our economy and cut back our greenhouse gas emissions ’cause we have to save the planet for our grandchildren.’ We could do that.
This is the problem with Global Warming in a nutshell, this single statement. The assertion that the debate is over, an obvious tactic to silence critics. Anyone still paying attention to the science knows that everybody does not agree with the Clinton-Gore position on Global Warming. Second, and this is the real issue for so-called skeptics, the proposed solutions to Global Warming are killers of economic growth in this country and around the world.
What is the number one domestic issue right now? The economy. We have Congress moving at record speed to pass a bribe, er, rebate, to the taxpayers at the mere suggestion that we might be heading into a recession. How is Hillary going to simultaneously help those “middle class working families” she talks so much about if her strategy to combat Global Warming is to “slow the economy”? Is she going to tackle obesity and Global Warming at the same time by having Americans ride bicycles to work?
The greatest engine of social reform in the history of the world is capitalism. If we slow our economy intentionally, human suffering around the world will dramatically increase. Is that what liberals are about these days, increasing actual human suffering in the name of an imaginary enemy? This is the point that Bjorn Lomborg makes in his INCREDIBLE book Cool It,
Lomborg argues that many of the elaborate and expensive actions now being considered to stop global warming will cost hundreds of billions of dollars, are often based on emotional rather than strictly scientific assumptions, and may very well have little impact on the world’s temperature for hundreds of years. Rather than starting with the most radical procedures, Lomborg argues that we should first focus our resources on more immediate concerns, such as fighting malaria and HIV/AIDS and assuring and maintaining a safe, fresh water supply-which can be addressed at a fraction of the cost and save millions of lives within our lifetime. He asks why the debate over climate change has stifled rational dialogue and killed meaningful dissent.
We had Mr. Lomborg on Pundit Review Radio for a full hour discussing his great book, and what should be done about Global Warming,
When you listen to Mr. Lomborg talk about Global Warming, both the science and proposed solutions, it becomes hard to understate just how wrong Bill Clinton and his fellow Global Warming fanatics are. The sad truth is that three out of four presidential candidates are ready to take this economy over a cliff in the name of Global Warming. Only Mitt Romney understands the consequences of the proposals like the one Bill Clinton floated here.

Clinton Remained Silent As Wal-Mart Fought Unions
In six years as a member of the Wal-Mart board of directors, between 1986 and 1992, Hillary Clinton remained silent as the world’s largest retailer waged a major campaign against labor unions seeking to represent store workers.
Here’s what I wrote on February 14, 2006, a Valentine to Hillary if you will,
Hillary’s Hypocrisy Problem: Today’s issue is Wal-Mart
Hillary wants us to believe that she has “serious differences with current company practices†yet those practices remain the same as they were when she was on the board of directors. WalMart was good for young Hillary, gave her credibility and opportunity, not to mention generous heapings of cash and stock.
To say that Hillary is in a no win situiation with regard to WalMart is an understatement. Pathetic, half baked answers like she can’t recall differences she aired as a company director, and returning campaign cash from a comapny on whose board she so proudly served, are not going to cut it, with her own base, or anyone else for that matter.
If you want to understand the kind of kinetic growth Wal-Wart was going through during her tenure on the board, read this post.
In a May 19, 2007 follow-up post, I asked,
How will Hillary answer questions about Wal-Mart from the left wing activists? How will she respond to union members questions about Wal-Mart’s anti-union policies when she is confronted on the campaign trail?
And finally, on November 13, 2007 I wondered aloud,
Wal-Mart and Hillary Clinton; when will she be pressed on this?
Why has Hillary been able to avoid this topic during the campaign? I would think union-loving Democrats would be outraged. I would think “big business is evil†Democrats would be outraged? I would think Wal-Mart killed Mom and Pop store Democrats would be outraged?
To summarize? Where’s the outrage from these traditional Democrat constituencies?
Ed. note: Maybe Hillary has too many other problems as a candidate that they haven’t gotten around to this?
Between this story, and the blockbuster in the New York Times today about a sleazy business deal involving her co-president, Hillary could be looking at a looooooooooong evening tonight as she and Barack face off in last debate before Super Tuesday.
Shikha Dalmia, senior analyst at the Reason Foundation has the latest figures on RomneyCare, and they don’t look pretty.
“…premium increases of 12% for this year — double last year’s national average.”
“The state health-care bill for fiscal 2008-2009 is expected to touch $400 million — 85% more than originally projected.”
“Before the hike, the cheapest plan for uninsured couples in their 50s cost $8,200 annually. Now, unless government bureaucrats hand them an exemption, they might well find it cheaper to pay the penalty — up to half the price of a standard policy — than purchase insurance. That is, pay to remain uninsured. This is legalized extortion: TonySopranoCare.”
I have said many times that Mr. Romney’s healthcare plan that he signed on his way out the door in Massachusetts (billed as his “signature accomplishment” at the time) was inherently anti-competitive/anti-free market and would inevitably lead to contrived scarcities, inflated costs, and higher prices for consumers- the same things that always result from socialistic/command style systems- not to mention that inconvenient little fact that it established $50 dollars a pop abortions as a “healthcare benefit.”With all the talk about Romney being the only “economic conservative” it bears mentioning that his actual record tells a very different story.
