Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid
“…I don’t think anyone can find a war that this country was engaged in where the funds were cut off. No one is talking about cutting off the funds.”
Uhhh, Harry, ever meet John Kerry? He was in Vietnam, you might have heard. The Democrats cut off funds then, even if you’re too embarrassed to admit it now.

Reid May Move to Cut Iraq War Funds
WASHINGTON (AP) – Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Monday he wants to cut off money for the Iraq war next year, making clear for the first time that Democrats are willing to pull out all the stops to end U.S. involvement.
Will the Democrats actually cut off funding to appease the moonbats who have hijacked their party? They can’t stand up to the Kos Crazies, you can forget about Al Qaeda.
Rep. Sylvestre Reyes, the buffoon who doesn’t know Shiite from Shinola but knows enough to be named by Nancy Pelosi as chair of the House Intelligence Committee, has shown the way. He was for the surge when it was all talk, and then against it when it became time for action.
In December, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Silvestre Reyes stated, “We have to consider the need for additional troops to be in Iraq, to take out the militias and stabilize Iraq … I would say 20,000 to 30,000-for the specific purpose of making sure those militias are dismantled, working in concert with the Iraqi military.â€
Newsweek, December 5, 2006Chairman Reyes, however, has changed his tune. “We don’t have the capability to escalate even to this minimal level.â€â€¦Reyes, who met with Bush on Tuesday to review the plan, said sending more troops removes any incentive the Iraqi government had to take responsibility for the safety of its own citizens.

Are these profiles in courage the next to flip flop?
Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY):
“I do not support cutting funding for American troops.”Sen. Carl Levin(D-MI):
“We’re not going to cut off funding to the troops … no one wants to do that.”Sen. Barbara Boxer(D-CA):
“I don’t know of any senator who would cut off funds for troops in the field.”Sen. Amy Klobuchar(D-MN):
“I don’t think we should be pulling back any funds.”Sen. Dianne Feinstein(D-CA):
“Yes, the congress could cut off the funds. But the congress will not do that because our men and women are in harm’s way.”Sen. Bill Nelson(D-FL):
“U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson ( D-FL ) today made clear his intention to oppose measures he sees as possibly undermining U.S. troops, like cutting funds… […] Nelson said today he’ll oppose efforts to cut off funding.”
Let us not forget that these same people voted unanimously, 81-0, to approve Lt. Gen. David Petraeus back in January. Now, Petraeus surge plan is being implemented and there are early signs of progress, despite the fact that all the troops are not yet in place. Why didn’t they express their displeasure when it mattered, and vote against Petraeus? Why didn’t a single one of them do that? Now they want to pull the rug out from under Petraeus, every service member in Iraq and 26 million Iraqi citizens.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the war is a domestic political weapon to the Democrats, nothing more.
Hat Tip: The Corner
Michael Yon is back with another brutal assessment of the military public affairs office. If you believe that we are losing the media and information war, you are correct. Unfortunately, we have to look at our own military for a large share of the blame.
RUBS (Raw Unedited, Barely Spellchecked)
People at home who lament not knowing how their loved-ones are doing should write to their Representatives and Senators; it doesn’t seem likely that this problem is going to be fixed from within the system. It’s going to take outside influence because the military system has invested so heavily in being professional-media-victims. Even some obvious and easy fixes, mentioned here recently, and others offered in much greater detail at the Military Reporters and Editors website, are not being implemented. The military is doing nothing systematically to fix the problem. If our combat forces fought the way we fight the media war, we would all be dead.

What’s the difference between Retired Lt. Col. Ralph Peters and Iran?
Ralph Peters takes no prisoners!
It was great to welcome back Ralph Peters to Pundit Review Radio. He brought his A-game last night. Here is an overview of some of the things he got off his chest:
On the Democrats:
“Nancy Pelosi is so far above her weight class it’s just pathetic.”
“She is not qualified to be Speaker of the House at times like these…she seems like a kindergarten teacher on the first day of class.”
“The Democrats are advocating surrender”
“Why should the enemy in Iraq quit now when the Democrats are promising them victory?”
“They gave Petraeus the keys to the car but won’t give him money for the gasoline”
“Barack is pretty arrogant for wanting to be president without even serving a full term in the Senate.”
On the Republicans:
“We are in a fight for our lives and we have national leaders who have never had a bloody nose.”
“The chronicle of wasted chances is truly tragic.”
“They have made so many mistakes at the strategic level.”
“It has been frustrating for four years to watch the administration do the wrong thing again and again and again.”
“I would crawl over broken glass naked to vote for McCain.”
and my favorite line of the night, on the British response to the hostage situation,
“Margaret Thatcher was a real man.”

Hat Tip: The Razor
From today’s American Thinker by our good friend Mrs. Janet Levy of Jihadwatch Blog.
On her recent trip to Club Gitmo:
My quest for the perfect incarceration location was satisfied recently on a visit to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, which truly rates an entry in the Michelin Guide to Correctional Facilities. I’ve informed my lawyer, family, close friends and associates that if I’m ever convicted, send me to GITMO!
“Why GITMO,” you ask?
The location is ideal, the climate sublime, food selection vast, the accommodations well ventilated, recreational opportunities abound and cultural sensitivity is king. Besides, I’d fit right in with the GITMO inhabitants. I’m a middle class college graduate, educated at a Western university. I’m not an explosives expert, but I did set off some illegal fireworks on the 4th of July once. All right, so I’m not a terrorist trainer, recruiter, aspiring martyr or financier, but my stint raising three boys has to count for something!
Yes, GITMO is definitely the choice for me. But I know my rights and have a few simple requests.
Let’s start with my religious needs. I won’t be needing the Koran that’s given to other inmates with a gloved hand to hang on the wall with a surgical mask. You can handle my Bible, the Old Testament, but you have to promise to kiss it if you accidentally drop it. Instead of an arrow on my bunk pointing toward Mecca, I’ll need a mezuzah on the cell door and will be forwarding directions certified by my rabbi indicating the exact location, angle and required prayer for proper mezuzah installation. I won’t require the customary prayer mat, skullcap and prayer beads. I’ll be content with a yoga mat and a block to work on my downward-facing dogs and chatarangas. I also won’t be needing the five times daily calls to prayer and the cone with the “P” on it that you place on the floor to enforce 20 minutes of quiet respect during each prayer session. On second thought, the “P” cone may come in handy right outside my cell during monthly cycles when I’m hormonal and dangerous.

The “controversy” surrounding the Guantanamo Bay terrorist detention facitlity (a.k.a “Club Gitmo”) would be humerous if it were not so pathetically absurd. Only domestic insurgent Defeaticrats could be “outraged” about “abuses” at Club Gitmo. If only they were as “outraged” about actual human rights violations such as the 1.5 million living babies who are killed and discarded like trash in abortion clinics like Planned Parenthod every year in this country as they are with phony “human rights abuses” of throat cutting savages in terrorist detention facilities like Club Gitmo.
In 2004, after watching a news report of a severely injured service member who had returned from Iraq, John Gonsalves thought to himself, “what now, what happens to this person now”. He searched for an organization that he assumed was already in place where he could donate his building expertise for a few weeks. When he found out that none existed, he quit his contractor job and started Homes for Our Troops.
Homes for Our Troops builds specially adapted homes for our most severely injured service members. To date, they have built thirty homes, and have pledged to build another thirty.
Last evening I was privileged to attended the 1st Annual Homes for Our Troops Dinner / Auction Benefit. I was truly inspired by the event and the one thing that that I took away was how much of an impact one person can have on the lives of others.

Tonight we have a unique edition of Someone You Should Know. Matthew Currier Burden, author of Blog of War and proprietor of the #1 milblog Blackfive sent out an urgent message today asking us to pray for Marine Corporal David Emery Jr. As Matt said, sometimes the best and only thing we can do is Spiritual Warfare.
On February 7th, 2007, DJ was at a checkpoint near a crowded place when a terrorist walked up to the Marines. DJ’s Battalion Sergeant Major, Joseph Ellis (a recon Marine of 23 years), suspected that a bomber was approaching and put himself between the bomber and his Marines.
The bomber quickly detonated himself, instantly killing Sergeant Major Ellis. The Sergeant Major’s sacrifice absorbed enough of the blast to barely keep DJ from being killed. DJ was hit hard in his abdomen – an artery was cut causing kidney failure – both legs and one arm were shattered, and, in fact, his wounds were so severe that doctors didn’t think that he’d make it. They had him on a respirator, fighting infection, fever, kidney failure and other problems for a time before he stabilized enough (just barely) to make the flight to Germany where his parents and wife met him. While still unconscious, his family kept telling him to fight. Then, on the 18th, DJ was strong enough to make the trip from Germany to the US (Bethesda).
Both his legs have been amputated and are infected. DJ’s stomach wound is infected and can’t be closed until the infection is gone. And his kidneys are not working still…
At this point, please pray for a miracle.
