I predict that “global warnimg” (i.e. human induced global warming) will go the way of “global warming” predicted in the 1930s and “global cooling” in the 1970s). And people will look back and say, with all the threats to civilization (Jihadism, HIV, malaria, 3rd world nation poverty, etc…) a group of nuts tried to convince people that humans could actually control the earth’s temperature and that the internal combustion engine represented the greatest threat to civilization.

Is this new nugget of information just released one more “inconvenient truth” for Al Gore and the rest of the “its-settled-man’s responsible-for-the-half-a-degree-warming-over-the-last -century-case-closed” crowd? And is this yet another reason why old Al Gore refuses to actually debate global warming?

Gore asserted in his global warming film “An Inconvenient Truth” that nine of the ten hottest years in U.S. history occurred since 1995.

Well, not exactly Al. Seems as though NASA had a little publicized “revision” to the data that was picked up by a blogger by the name of Steven McIntyre, a former mineral exploration executive and policy analyst for the governments of Ontario and Canada who blogs at ClimateAudit.org

Now, the ten hottest years on record in the U.S., beginning with the hottest year, are: 1934, 1998, 1921, 2006, 1931, 1999, 1953, 1990, 1938 and 1939. Before the revision, that list read: 1998, 1934, 2006, 1921, 1931, 1999, 1953, 2001, 1990 and 1938. The re-ranking completely knocked 2001 off the top 10 list.

you can read the entire interview with McIntyre here.

And you can take an opportunity this weekend to view this very informative documentary and widely viewed entitled the “Great Global Warming Swindle” on You Tube below.

This short video shows a little sample of what can happen here in the United States if the Senate passes S.1105, the “hate crimes” bill which Hillary Clinton would have no problem signing if elected president.

I’ll admit it, I love Elvis, especially the 1968-1973 Elvis, in Vegas, looking like the coolest guy who ever was. Elvis died thirty years ago today, and I remember it like it happened yesterday. My mother’s birthday is today, (Happy Birthday Mom!) and she was having some of her friends over for a party. In the middle of a fun August afternoon in 1977, the network news broke in and reported that Elvis had died. The birthday celebration turned somber. My mother’s generation was the one blown away by Elvis, the songs, the looks, the hips. I’ll never forget that afternoon.

Anyway, here is Elvis, at his absolute peak.

Powerline’s Scott Johnson shares his thoughts on Elvis.

Is this how the Dems plan on making gas more affordable?

Last week a gallon of regular unleaded cost $2.83. Federal taxes account for 18.4 cents of that cost.

Jim Oberstar (D-Minn) — chairman of the House Transportation Committee — wants to raise that to 23.4 cents per gallon.

Rep. John Mica, the ranking Republican on Oberstar’s committee, said of the proposal “[a] knee-jerk reaction to the critical problem facing our transportation and infrastructure systems… .”

But wait. John Dingell who never met a tax hike he didn’t like is gonna see Oberstar’s 18.4 cents gas tax increase and raise him with a 72 cents a gallon increase of his own. He’ll be dammed if he’s gonna let Oberstar steal out tax him.

50 cents in direct federal taxes and a separate tax on carbon emissions amounting to an additional 22 cents.

Purportedly, the Democrats are proposing rasing federal gas taxes (which of course never effect the uber rich Senators like Kerry, Boxer, or Kennedy who travel around in their gas guzzling limos and private jets) to fund infrastructure (bridges, roads, etc…). Not that Dems need an excuse to rasie taxes. But they are using the tragic bridge collapse in Minnesota to do just that.

Let’s remember that in 1990 the federal govt warned Minnesota state authorities that the bridge was “structurally deficient.” Instead of spending tax money on fixing the bridge, they chose other pork projects recently noted by Rush Limbaugh such as:

a new $776 million Twins stadium to be paid for with a Hennepin County sales tax increase approved by state legislators with no voter referendum…”

“… $97.5 million for the North Star commuter rail line, $34 million in subsidies to ethanol producers that have seen a 300% increase in profits in the last year, and yet they’re still being subsidized,

“… $30 million for bear exhibits at the Minnesota and Como zoos,

“… $12 million to renovate the Schubert Theater in downtown Minneapolis,

“… one million for a replica Vikings ship in Morehead.”

Could the Democrat’s hypocracy on this issue be any more evident? They float wide-eyed paranoid conspiracy theories- about how Bush, halliburton, and Big Oil are conspiring to fix oil prices etc and what do they do to counteract higher prices for “average working Americans?” Well of course. They propose rasing the price of gas. Makes sense to me. Raising the price will no doubt make gas more affordable. It’s a “no-brainer.” Scarry part is, if Hillary becomes president, she would eagerly sign such a tax hike just like her husband did as one of their first official acts of their “two for the price of one” HillBilly co-presidency.

The Arab Palestinians who have been used as a pawn by the Muslim countries (who refuse to absorb them into their own countries) surrounding Israel as an excuse to brand Israel as “occupiers.” So, once again, in an effort to establish “peace” with the Palestinians, 2 years ago:

Israel evacuated all 9,000 Israelis living in Gaza and four northern West Bank communities in an effort to pave the way for peace and a future Palestinian state. During the disengagement, Israel uprooted entire communities including schools, businesses, places of worship and the only Jewish cemetery there.

So, did this, essentiallly unilateral act of good faith, lead to “peace” for the Palestinians?

Not exactly.

In return for this painful sacrifice, which Israel carried out Aug. 15, 2005, Gaza has been converted into a launching pad for rockets. Since the withdrawal, more than 1,500 Qassam rockets have been fired into Israel’s southern Negev region. The attacks have killed six civilians and injured hundreds more and hit areas where Gaza evacuees were relocated.

Iran-backed Hamas has been chiefly responsible for the Qassam attacks, but other Palestinian militant groups also have taken credit, such as Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Fatah party’s Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and the Popular Resistance Committees. These groups, along with Hamas, have continued to launch Qassam rockets and mortars at Israel on an almost daily basis since disengagement. During a particularly violent period — May 15 to May 31, 2007 — more than 300 Qassam rockets were launched from Gaza at Israel.

Have the Palestinians been any safer now that the “occupiers” evacuated from Gaza and 4 West bank settlements?

Overall, Palestinian internal violence has dramatically increased in the past two years. During the first seven months of 2007 alone, 415 Palestinians were killed, including 28 children, and another 2,022 Palestinians were injured – all at the hands of other Palestinians

And what of the plight of the 9000 evacuees who fled their homes, businesses, and lives to make way for “peace?”

Psychologically: Gush Katif evacuees, subject to continuing financial and social difficulties, are increasingly seeking mental and emotional support

Physically:Research at the Ashkelon Regional Health Bureau and Ashkelon’s Barzilai Medical Center has shown a notable rise in deaths among the evacuees; Their findings also show that former residents are suffering from a significant increase in medical maladies including cancerous growths, heart problems, diabetes, high blood pressure and asthma attacks.

Economically: Evacuees continue to be affected by a very high rate of unemployment, currently 37 percent (about 1,450 people), according to the SELA Disengagement Authority;

Here is the entire article and time line.

Among Islamic countries there is no desire to live “side by side” Israel. The goal is to destroy her. I believe that it was a big mistake for Israel to cede control of Gaza and portions of the Weest Bank. It has not led to the promised “peace.” And it has not made the Israeli people any safer. The only thing that the Islamists understand is raw power and force. Israel should quit paying lip service to “peace” with their surrounding neighbors who for the most part don’t even acknowledge their right to exist as a sovereign nation. On the bright side, perhpas this farcical “peace plan” (disengagement from Gaza) will finally make clear the absurdity of such endeavors. Perhaps people will come to finally understand that a significant portion of the Arab world’s definition of “peace” is not living “peacefully side by side Israel” but the total destruction of the Jewish people of Israel. Plain and simple.

My friend Lisa De Pasquale asks the question: Are We Hypocrites for Not Enlisting?

Liberals’ incessant calls to draft every 18-year-old College Republican is tantamount to the disrespect they have for the military. They demand that every person who supports the war join the military or send their children. If they don’t, they’re hypocrites. This isn’t going to be a winning strategy for the Left. Is every person that wears an AIDS ribbon, but doesn’t go to Africa (as Laura and Jenna Bush did) to help children with HIV/AIDS a hypocrite? Are vice presidents and celebrities that travel in private jets and SUVs while lecturing the little people on the proper amount of toilet paper also hypocrites?

In Treason, Ann Coulter wrote, “Instead of relentlessly attacking the military as immature or testosterone crazed – meaning ‘braver than me’ – liberals might have the good grace to realize they live in a country where big burly men are willing to protect them from bullies.” Thanks to those extraordinary men and women that persevered through the recruitment process and continue to serve, we all enjoy freedoms that we ourselves are not willing or able to fight for.

With significant success in Iraq due to the “surge,” certainly there is room for honest and civil debate about various aspects of the overall “war on terror” like what we should do about Pakistan and Iran etc… But claiming that unless you are in the military, you are a “hypocrite” for supporting military action and the war in general is nonsensical. But this is what we have come to expect from the anti-American, anti-military wing of the Democrat Party who are invested in our defeat and blinded with seething anger and hate for our president.
